You just add the folder where you've placed them as an import directory. All my .m2ts files play fine.

Good luck

Unhappy

I'm not sure why, but none of my .m2ts files play either...

I get an error stating:

"There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback."

VLC plays it perfectly though, so at least I've got that option. Would be nice to figure out how to play these straight through Sage though.

BTW: I'm using SageTV v.7 beta on WinXP, with an Asus EN9500GT 1G video card (if that helps).

What does VLC list as the video codec? You have to ensure that there is a compatable directshow codec for this video, or sage will not be able to render it.

Based on that you would need TotalMediaTheater, PowerDVD or some other package that has a h.264 decoder. If on Windows 7 choose the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder in Sage.

I do have PowerDVD installed.

Are you suggesting I play through that, or am I missing something about how to configure SageTV to use PowerDVD in order to view directly?

Otherwise, it's not really any different than playing via VLC (which, as mentioned previously, works just fine).

As I also mentioned, I am running under WindowsXP, so I'm assuming the "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder" solution is moot (for me at least)?

VLC uses it's own decoders, which is why it is capable of playing them back. The other problem is, newer versions of PowerDVD don't allow use of their decoders outside of their program (their decoders are called the Cyberlink H.264 Decoder). If you've got an old version, it might work, but no gurantee's.

if VLC is able to play them back fine (which is a software only decoder), then you are likely to be able to use ffdshow (also software only) to do so in sage. (you should be able to get ffdshow here).

Then, in the sagetv detailed setup -> Audio/Video -> MPEG4 decoder, choose ffdshow Video Decoder.
