Is the actual picture that is on IMDB database supposed to be displayed instead of a random recording picture ?

For example, in the screenshot below, all the data for the movie "Dragonfly" was saved from IMDB, but only the text details show, not the jacket picture.

Thanks

Looks like the code in the default STV only displays generated thumbnails.

bunch92, SageTV 7 is still a beta. If you are wanting something changed in the way things work in the current beta, do a bug submission and request a change.

SageTV 6 used to display the downloaded images, but that is not one of the current selection of images that can get displayed. That may be an oversight, or intentional, but if you do a bug submission at least it will get looked at.

I've uploaded a new version (7.1.2) to the plugin repository

Fixed IMDB read failed: null (I was finally able to reproduce it)
Changed metadata saving to use SageTV V7 apis
Added saving of Season and Episode numbers for TV
Added manual search and other additional searches
Added display downloaded IMDB image if using Phoenix fanart and no Fanart available on imported videos.

Can you add 'trivia'

Trivia is my favorite part of the IMDB... Any chance you can add it to the plugin?

Thanks,
Larry

Larry, if there is Trivia available it should be displayed and saved. Are you talking about the data that's displayed? or what is saved?

I haven't seen 'trivia' on any movie in a long time (displayed or saved, even pre V7), I just assumed it was not included anymore in the Sage plugin. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

A few recent examples:

King of Hearts (1966)
In Cold Blood (1967)
Misery (1990)

These three I just looked at, all have trivia online but not via the Sage plugin. I do see the cast, backstage and quotes.

Thanks,
Larry

Larry, you're right it doesn't work anymore. Looks like it might need a change in the JAR. I'll have to try and figure out how that bit works.

If you are looking in the jar see if you can find out and fix in the quotes that crazy number that preceeds the quote. Nielm had that fixed at one time and broke it in one of the following builds. It use to say just "Quote" and now you get that number before the actual quote.

Gerry, that's one of the things I fixed in the 1.7 version of the nielm_sageimdb library.

John, without a doubt, this is one of the most utilized tools in SageTV, so thanks a million for bringing this over to v7.

It looks like the "actor" portion of the IMDB search is broken. Titles work fine, but actors give an error.

Anyone else seeing this?

Looks like they've changed the site again. I'll have a look at what's needed for a fix.

Trivia

It would be great to have "trivia" back too, that's my favorite part of the IMDB.

Updated the library nielm_imdb in the plugin repository with fixes for person lookup and title trivia.

I've also attached the current jar to the first post for users of older SageTV versions

Excellent - I'm not at home, but I'm guessing that file is under a heading that says "don't mess with this"? Do we update there? Or do we update the main plugin?

(I know, I have a bad tendency to ask questions here at work before I go home and see how it works on my own!)

I'm working on an update to the UI plugin that will also install the library update, but I'm not sure how much longer that's going to take. If you're desperate then you can install the update (nielm_imdb) via the plugin manger "Library" tab.
