changing channel hideously slow

i have changed my sagetv server setup and completely reinstalled everything.
am running vista64 server running sage 7 with sagemc.

i cannot remember if there is something about just using the frequenceis rather than tuning the channel each time, but changing channel is now painful.

any ideas?

This will probably get moved since it's not about an extender.

To help you'll have to give us more information such as what tuner(s) and what source (cable, ota, satellite, etc.).
