Need advice on new pvr build please.
My family is trying EBP FIOS TV from comcast and we went from 4 dvrs to one because you can only get one per household right now. I have an older 780i motherboard with 6 gigs of 1066 memory and a duel core Intel e6600 running at 3.0ghz with a geforce 8800 gts (640k memory). I have purchased a HVR-2250 for the 80 channels (roughly) of SD and a HD PVR 1212 for the HD channels coming off of the cisco CIS430. I have 64 bit windows 7 installed and sage tv version 7. I have been reading about uirt and firewire but as of right now I only have ir blasters. I have not had the time to set up the HD PVR yet. Now here come the questions.....
Is this machine fast enough for prossessing hd and watching tv at the same time without lag or do i need to upgrade the procsessor to a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 ? I have been reading firewire will not work with 64 bit windows is this true and is there any way around it? I love building pc's but this is my first pvr build. What tips can you give me to help with keeping the wife happy? She has used tivos and I am trying to make something close. What questions am I not asking that I need too ask to make this a smooth experience? Thanks for all the help and advice as it is greatly appreciated! Q |

I've never used a Tivo before but the best advice I can give for WAF is keep it simple and install comskip or show analyzer to ditch the commercials |

Seriously though, as Spectrum said, that server setup will be plenty for just Sage. But if you start doing other tasks at the same time, you'd benefit from another core (or more).
