Who is going to replace their HD200 with a HD300?

Has a comparison been made yet between the HD200 and HD300?

I already own a HD200 that is used exclusively in extender mode on my living room TV. Are the speed improvements alone noticeable enough to warrant an upgrade? Are there other features of the HD300 that make it more desirable than the HD200?

I know these are subjective questions but am interested in hearing what opinions there are out there.

Replace? No. Add to, yes.... I first used 4 MediaMVP's, then moved to Two HD100's and 2 MediaMVP's, then moved to 2 HD200's, 2 HD100's and 2 MediaMVP's on very unused tv's. Now I can be fully rid of my MediaMVP's and use all HDX00's at all of my 6 tv's.

And YES, every review compares them, just read some posts already...

I am. HDMI 1.3 support and the ability to use an external IR receiver were enough for me to want to upgrade from a HD200 to the HD300. The extra speed is icing on the cake.

Here's to hoping for a lot of cheap HD200's on ebay.

For me it's not a question of replacing my HD200, which I don't plan to get rid of. But the HD200 was always relegated to the back room and never managed to displace my PC client as my main playback device, mostly due to UI sluggishness. The HD300 is enough faster that it now has the place of honor in the living room, and the PC client is retired.

The IR receiver jack is a big plus, as are faster boot times and firmware updates.

I can't wait to replace the combination of my HD200 + PopcornHour finally. I've had to keep the Popcorn beside the HD200 for the DTS processing it has that the HD200 does not. Finally now I can have 1 single device to do it all. The HD200 will end up going to another room but the HD300 will be the primary from now on.

I replaced one of my HD200s because of the IR receiver. I'm still debating if I'm going to replace my other HD200.

I replaced 2 HD200's for 2 HD300's. That leaves me with:
2 HD200
1 old MediaMVP
1 Server PC
1 HTPC Client I use for testing on occasion

I added 2 HD300s to my 2 HD200s; the 300's will take pride of place in the two main media rooms (surround sound/DTS big screens etc) with the HD200's in the kids bedrooms.

Seems nonsensical to replace them; 4 clients are better than 2.

This thread got me thinking about my setup, so this seems like as good a place to pose this question as any other.

I'll now have two MVPs that are retired & shelved. I'd like to have music in the basement, and the MVPs seem like they might be an OK way to go. I don't have an extra TV kicking around, so it'd be a headless MVP setup.

I think that I could launch an MP3 playlist (or any Sage programming, I guess) on the MVP from the www browser.

I guess I could get a cheap stereo tuner/receiver and some speakers, but I wonder if there is some smaller/cheaper way to go??

any thoughts?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I just need a decent set of computer speakers and a L/R RCA plug -> mini-phono (headphone) adapter. right?

maybe.............right now, the hd300 replaces an hd200 so i can have HD audio in my home theater..........that hd200 goes to the basement system to replace a old ziova/2 channel audio setup, plus i have an hd200 in the bedroom.

the hd200 might be replaced if netflix or other functionality (cable card?) proves to be compelling, but for now i'll wait on swapping them out.

I've been waiting for the HD300 to come out so I could replace the HD200 in my living room and move the HD200 to my bedroom.

I'm also waiting to see if something like Netflix is added just to the HD300 before I swap out all 3 (I still pre-ordered 1, though). If so, maybe they could offer a "trade-up" program where we could get some credit towards a new one...

I am replacing 2 of my 4 HD200 with HD300s and will move 1 HD200 to the last TV in the house without it's own client.

I'll end up with a spare HD200 which I haven't yet decided what to do with: Keep as spare, buy another TV to have another client somewhere else in the house, or sell.

You could donate it to needy children (mine)... Though really, the MediaMVP they just inherited does the job just fine (and works with DTS tracks)...

Between a birthday this month and Christmas, I suspect an HD300 will show up at some point this year.

Squeezebox IMO, either the Radio or the Boom. I've got a Boom in my bedroom and it's great. Keep looking at getting an SB Radio for elsewhere/wherever.

If you manage music in iTunes - Airport express will do streaming. You can likely find a cheap G unit on ebay too

B

PS - I am trading out all 200s but one for 300s. I will likely put the 200 on my SlingBox.

I am trading all 3 of my HD200's for 300's. In two bedrooms the TVs are directly connected via HDMI and do not support DTS at all and the same for the living room for now. An HT receiver is on the wish list for the living room but it will support DTS-HD so I will still need a 300 for that.

I added on to my setup. I'll be putting the hd-300 in my living room and moving my hd-200 to the bedroom.
