HD300 questions

I see it has been announced, now just wondering about some details.

Does it support a usb DVD drive?
Netflix?
Does it come with a license if we already have SageTV?

For $149 its hard to beat, so support for Netflix and a DVD drive would make it irresistible

It comes with a client license built in.

Netflix is in the list on online options so I think this is also OK (I don't use this at present so I am not absolutely sure how good it is).

Not sure on the DVD Drive; you can play DVD's and Blu-rays from the server if you need to; I believe only the new Netgear absolutely offers a USB-DVD/Blu-Ray plug in but that has an eSata drive.

Where did you see this? I thought the only option for Netflix was to have a Windows server running PlayOn, just like with the previous extenders.

You are right it is in conjunction with PlayOn on the server; forgot to mention that

From the GeekTonic review:
"The SMP8654 inside of the HD300 includes Macrovision/Content Protection support. This opens the door for Netflix and other streaming services which require such support. You’ll note that the WDTV Live Plus that has the same board has Netflix streaming which is a good sign for a future feature. No guarantees, but I’m hopeful. Still I recommend you assume it won’t happen and perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised"

So in the future probably we may see netflix support. For now it is just through Playon.

Do you use it in the UK? Just wondering what content you get?

Cheers

No not yet; been trying to understand what content I could get in the UK through the Playon service. May try it when my broadband exchange is upgraded this november.
