Processor Scheduling for SageTV Server?

I have a quad core system, with 8GB of RAM that runs SageTV, a personal website and mySQL.. I do a lot of placeshifting and wonder what is the preferred setting for the Processor Scheduling on a 64bit Windows 7 box? Currently I have it set to 'Programs', but wonder if 'Background Services' might better tune the system for SageTV purposes?

That setting will give priority to desktop activity. If you're typically not logged on it doesn't really make a difference.

This PC is always logged into a user's desktop (mine)... I guess I can change the setting to 'Background Services' and see what it does.. just didn't want to break anything!

Well if you run Sage as a service you may want to set the priority to Background services. This would probably also improve your mySQL and website because I believe they run various services.

I'm guessing you won't see much of a difference either way. Unless you have a task that is maxing out your quad core, then the priority assignments don't really make much difference. Basically, setting it to 'Programs' gives the single foreground application a bit extra priority. Setting it to Background, gives everything the same priority. If you are never actually doing anything with the foreground window (most likely explorer.exe), then it will make no difference.
