Cannot disable transcoding?

Hello,

I am testing Placeshifter (6.6) from a remote location and with Dynamic Streaming the video (SD TV) is degraded considerably. When I switched to "without transcoding" the result was the same.

I was under the impression that if I don't transcode the quality will be like the original except that the video might need to preload. The server's upload speed is sufficient (I think) - when doing ftp uploads I consistently get 2Mb/s yet the bandwidth indicator in Placeshifter fluctuates betweek 500Kb/s to 1400Kb/s

How can I force the video to be sent in the original quality?

Thanks!

There is a setting in the sage.Properties file that affects the upload speed and transcoding.

I assume that is the:

miniplayer/min_bandwidth_for_no_transcode=2000000

line.

If I lower this a then it will not transcode as long as the bandwidth is above the new limit?

yes, it was added a while back to support speeds like FiOS provides.

I would not be surprised if that's not enough. IIRC when I was recording SD with analog tuners I was running bitrates of 4-6Mbps.
