HD300 Faster - at what?

I use my HD200s exclusively as a SageTV extender, never in standalone mode. Were I to replace them with twice-as-fast HD300s, where would I actually perceive the speed upgrade? Would the UI be just a bit snappier? Or, might the spinning ball pauses of up to 10 seconds at seemingly random times be reduced / eliminated? Or, is it primarily useful for displaying BD files? I'm not sure which are UI issues, and which are in the server.

With a bigger cache UI's like SMM should be a bit snappier since you can cache more of the art while scrolling through the movies.

Yeah and the default ui's are faster as well. It is not mind boggling but definitely noticable.

Plus it prints money people

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll give one a try. The price is right!

I was going to just order one of the HD200s that people are selling off on ebay. I got sick of people sniping me for a dollar over what I bid so I just said screw it and ordered an HD300 from Sage's website.

The HD300 is much faster (cold booting into standalone, cold booting into media extender mode, UI response time, movie startup, thumbnail loading, photo viewing, etc), you won't be sorry if you order one. It's extremely noticable and to be honest, after using a 300, I'd never go back and order a 200 off of ebay... Even if you save a few bucks getting someones old one, the 300 is much nicer.

I'm using a client computer now. Would I expect the UI to be faster or slower?

Probably about the same. Maybe a little slower, but it will be able to play all video types without issue.

Although if your computer really does only have 1 MB of RAM then definitely faster.
