SageTV 7/6 Client video Lag with HDPVR H264 1080i Video with Acer Revo 3610
So I have the 7.0.17 SageTV client on an Win7 Acer Revo 3610 and cannot get the client to play smooth video from my 7.0.17 server. I also tried 6.6.16 Client+Server with the same unwatchable stutter lag.
Video is H264 1080i with Dolby Digital Audio recorded on my HD-PVR or same format recorded on my Canon HD Videocam. Also live aTV from the HDPVR has the same issue. Client is on 1gb network, server is 3.0ghz Core 2 duo, video plays flawlessly off a network share in WMC, VLC, WMPC. Hardware is not a problem on either end, the client plays the stream flawlessly at 20% CPU using any media player using the ION chipset in the Acer Revo. Yet when playing this video in the SageTV Client the video is unwatchable laggy and CPU is somewhere between 60-80%. I would bet that the SageTV client is not using the correct codec or hardware acceleration, but I have tried all selectable codecs in the client. Even ran a graphiedit to see what codec windows was using, which was Microsoft DV/DVD Codec. Switched SageTV to these codecs, lag lag lag. Is anyone running a SageTV client on an Acer Revo 3610 able to play full 1080i HDPVR video without stutter from a SageTV server? Also low res (normal 480i TV) plays fine as do DVDs from the server. Thanks! |

What are your video and audio settings in the SageTV Client?
I certainly get HW acceleration for my HDPVR recordings on my W7, using the MS decoders for playback. (Also, make sure Aero is enabled in W7 or HW acceleration won't be enabled in the OS, so I've heard)

Do you have full screen exclusive turned on under Detailed Setup? I have a 3610 and video playback from my HD-PVR is smooth as silk.

Thanks, I turned FSE on and EVR and it was definately an improvement. I'm still seeing a bit of lag, what are your Audio/Video settings in detailed setup?
Did you reload a clean copy of Win7 on you Revo? I'm wondering if some of that Acer crapware is still lingering in the BG I have updated all my revo drivers from acer... maybe thats my problem too. Almost there, thanks so much. If I get one of these working I will buy a ton more. Last edited by Oatz; 09-27-2010 at 11:11 AM. |

I'm using the Microsfoft Decoder for
DVD Mpeg 2 H264 Funny i don't see a MPEG4 option in my 7.17 Client. BTW it's working much better now, the lag is barely noticeable. Apparently that FSE option can be "unset" somehow. That is it may go from "FSE Yes" to "FSE No" on it's own, perhaps when you switch to windowsed mode. I set it back to Yes and I am in business. Thanks for your help! |
