Help to improve PC Menu Performance??

Just setup SageTV 2 RC3 on a PVR-350 with its TV out on. When I watch TV CPU usage is 30% or so.

But, something is very strange tryng to navigate the menus with the keyboard or mouse. The CPU usage goes to 90-100% and its hard to control.

....
UPDATE: Solved issue, switched my mouse and keyboard to a different usb 1.0 hub. Strange issue was only with Sage when using a usb 2 hub.

At times I'll want to just go up a couple of buttons in the menu and it will go wild, scrolling through many items. Other times the mouse blanks out and skips on the screen when over Sage.

All other apps are fine using the mouse or keyboard. I also note that GB-PVR which also uses menus on the 350's tv out works fine. I know it uses 16 bit color on menus to make them run fast.

Are slow menus normal with Sage or any suggestions, can I change them to 16 bit to speed up?
Have you tried disabling software decoding? I know that it will reduce your CPU usage and it may help with the responsiveness. I use a PVR-350 to drive my TV and have software decoding disabled. My CPU usage is 1-2% on a 1 GHz VIA C3 processor.

I am having this problem of slow menus as well. It has only been with RC3 that i see this. I tried disabling software decoding as well but lost the picture after doing that.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Its your videocard. Either you are trying to use Sage on a secondary output (ie: TV) which is not set as your primary, or you have a cheap videocard. I have tested it on a system with a Radeon 9800 Pro, Radeon 9100, GeForceFX 5700 Ultra, the problem you described occured when I had it on either the 5700 or 9800 TV-output without it being primary, and always on the 9100.

I didnt have this problem with RC1 or RC2. I am using a pvr-350 with tv-out. I doubt its my video card if the problem didnt exist before RC3.

I didn't realize you were using the TV out on the 350, nevermind it likely is not the videocard in that case.

I am seeing the same thing with SageTV server and a pvr-350...used to be fine...RC3 it will be fine for awhile and then very slow for awhile, then ok, then slow again, etc...very annoying. It was up for 5 days no problem after upgrading...I started trying to use the pictures and music features and the problem started with the slow response. I then removed the music and picture import directories but the problem remains. It had been working great...I could kick myself for messing with it.

I'm using the trial, and I'm also experiencing the slow menu. When Sage starts up everything seems fine, but after a few minutes it just slows to a crawl. I don't know if anything specific triggers it or if it's after a set amount of time.
