SageTV Channel Mapping

Hi there,

I live in the UK and as such don't have easy access to Sage's EPG features. Since I only really use it to stream TV over the network, this is ok.

When I view my channles I have:

1. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner
2. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner
3. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner

etc.

I have used WinTV and marked only the channels with signals on them - to get the following left:

21. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner (Channel 4)
24. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner (ITV)
27. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner (BBC2)
31. Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture TV Tuner (BBC1)

This all works fine.

What I want to do now is put the channels in the order they should be - so I don't have to remember Channel 31 is really BBC1 etc.

So I tried to use the Map Station To A Different Channel feature - selecting say Channel 31 and then selecting map and then entering 1.

When I then go and view channel 1 - I get nothing, just static - persumably what is on the "real" channel 1. Channel 31 has (correctly?) dissapeard.

If I do it the other way round - select real channel 1, select map, and then enter 31 - I get two channel 31's - both of which show the same thing - TV Channel 1 (BBC1).

Am I doing something stupid here?

Thanks,
Simon

The channel numbers in Sage correspond to Window's frequency indexes...
Remapping just allows you to re-label a channel number with it's correct name

To see how to change what frequency each channel number uses (so that 1=bbc1, 2=bbc2, 3=ITV, 4=CH4. 5=Ch5 etc), see this thread:

nielm,

Thats great - thanks a lot - just what I wanted.

Must say I think "remap channel" needs really to be renamed in Sage! Very confusing.

One small niggle - some of my channels use Fine Tune settings in WinTV... I have also looked at the FeqCopy app in the fourums which seems to do this - but I am having one hell of a trouble entering a channel in Mhz in WinTV - it seems to suggest you must take the real channel numbers, look up in the tables from MSDN what Mhz that corroponds to, then enter a channel into WinTV in Mhz for that Chanall so FreqCopy will pick it up.

When I go to create a new Channel in WinTV - I just have a "Channel" box and can't enter anything above 69 never mind anything with a . in it.

Thanks
Simon

Really must get a manual for this WinTV lark - UI from hell.
