No Audio with HD-PVR - FYI
For the last couple of weeks, I've lost the audio on some of my HD recordings. It was baffling until I had time to do some investigative digging. I first noticed that all the recordings were HD Stereo, not 5.1. So I went down to my server last night and started playing around. After an hours or so, I remembered that a couple of weeks ago I had moved my HD-PVR around and plugged in the RCA Stereo jacks that came with the component cable. I also use a SPDIF optical audio cable. The timing of the rearrangement and lost audio was close so I unplugged the RCA Stereo jacks and my problem went away. I don't fully understand all that is going on but it looked like when the HD-PVR detected a Stereo audio recording it sent the audio through the RCA jacks, not the SPDIF and for some reason it was not being recorded. Anyway, all is working now and I put a big note on my RCA jacks not to plug them in.
