Resolved: Switching from WinTV to HD-PVR and having remote problems

I'm removing my ancient Hauppauge WinTV PCI card and replacing it with a Hauppauge HDPVR. Same 45 button remote, but the IR response of the HDPVR seems to be really balky. I need to hold the button down for long periods of time to get Sage to respond and it's not consistent. What parameters should I be playing with and what are the default values? (I remember having a problem with the WinTV remote and may have changed the settings WAY BACK when I 1st installed Sage TV (v4?)).

I think almost everyone who is using the HDPVR does not use the built-in IR receiver -- and most will recommend you don't use its blaster either.

In my case, I use a regular MS/MCE IR receiver and the HDPVR blaster but tuning isn't super quick regardless.

The best replacement is supposed to be the USB-UIRT (can use for blasting minimally but also for receving I believe).

I have a USB-UIRT that I'm using for blasting.
How do I get it do double duty as the receiver also (and keep or migrate the settings that I've already assigned for the hauppauge remote using irremote.ini -- we have several programmable remotes already programmed for those codes).

(I'm betting that there's a thread some where that I haven't found yet ).

Thanks!

Edit: For blasting, I'm using an emitter plugged in to the back of the USB-UIRT -- so the main receiver's available to be placed for reception. Any help appreciated!

If you are running Sage as a service and using it as a client on the same machine you will need the updated beta USB-UIRT driver from here. Once you have that installed (if you need it) change your remote to USB-UIRT in the detailed settings pages. Then link your buttons on the haupauge remote to Sage commands. You will have to link each button 2x because that remote uses toggle codes. Once it's set up all your remotes that are programmed to the hauppauge code set will work fine. AFAIK there isn't a way to migrate the irremote.ini over, but I could be wrong - it happens on occasion

When I switched IR sensors, it kept the mappings, but still has the problems with the remotes. It looks like the hauppauge is a mess when it comes to sage. Sage doesn't seem to know what to do when it gets 2 sets of codes and only one set seems to be programmed. Is there any way to use a text editor to attack this problem -- to program it and/or see what's currently programmed? It's rather painful and I can't find a set of ir_delays that'll let it work with any semblance of normality.

Got it now. It didn't have the hauppauge commands in there properly in the first place. When I reprogrammed it, carefully programming each button 2x in a row so that it'd get both codes, it's working fine. (I may switch back to the Hauppauge receiver just to see if it works now ).

THANKS!
