No sound in Placeshifter clients

I have a few Linux (Ubuntu Lucid) systems on which I have Placeshifter installed, but they don't play audio. How do I go about troubleshooting this problem?

I hate to bump my own post, but since no one responded, I'll ask another question: is anyone here able to play sound on a Linux Placeshifter Client?

FWIW, I'm on Kbuntu 10.04, and it works fine for me. I don't use pulse audio..

Thanks for the pointer. I used the "generic" solution and it works for me with Lucid (10.04) ...
