HDhomerun issue on whs, but not pc

I installed HDhomerun on my pc as the server. I also loaded HDhomerun. I did everything it took to make Sagetv recognize the capture tuners including running the advanced tab under the hdhomerun setup and repairing windows components. It worked great!

I then uninstalled everything and loaded everything to my mediasmart server. I added the add-in and loaded hdhomerun onto the server. I then loaded a sagetv client on the pc. I could access all my movies that are loaded on my server, but could not get the hdhomerun tuners to be recognized no matter what I did. Ver 7.0.21 is the version of media center / whs/client I have been using. I read some other treads, but nothing works. Can I run two servers, one for the movies/whs and one for tuners/media center on pc? Am I missing something?

If I remember correctly, I had a similiar problem. I needed to install HDHomeRun BEFORE installing any add-ins or SageTV.

I don't understand remote desktop on mediasmart server

Thanks for the repsponse, but sti lost. I do think I know what I don't understand:

OK,

I am a dummy and don't get it (Remote Desktop). I am trying to get to the mediasmart server desktop to install HDhomerun network tuners for SageTV.

I don't get how to get to the desktop on remote in. I assume remote in is either (remote Desktop connection) or (HPmediasmart server connection).

If I use (Remote Desktop connection) I get a terminal services error saying I don't have terminal services access. If I use this, how do I get Terminal services access on the WHS?

If I Use the (HPmediasmart server connection) I am even more lost on how to get to the server desktop.

I have SageTV installed and I can get to mymovie collection on the server, but I have no control of HDHOMERUN network Tuners.

Use Remote Desktop Connection. Connect using the machine name or the IP address of the server. Log in as Administrator. Make sure in the WHS Connector Remote Access is turned on and working.

Success

Thanks for the help. I missed you need to use (Administrator) in terminal services.

I now have HDHomerun up and running along with Sagetv servr on whs.

Now I am totally disappointed in my Mediasmartserver EX495 hosting the tuners. Nothing wrong when I tune from my HTPC, but looks like my WHS cannot keep up.

I may have to turn my HTPC into my media server and install hard drives to the case and purchase whs for it. I have room for six drives, but have 4 now. I guess at that point I could use the EX495 to do less tasking server processes, like only backup and maybe other less cpu intensive processes.

gplasky== You rock for helping me with this. I can now get on to getting another Sage client running abd the HD300 going.
