IRA-3 IR Receiver

Just wanted to ask for some advice about the IRA-3 IR Receiver from Homelectronics? Anybody using this device with EventGhost? Is it a good alternative to USB-UIRT?
Thanks a million...

I have an IRA-2 and it worked fine when I used it. I replaced it with a MCE receiver when I had to replace my wireless keyboard.

It looks like they've fixed the main annoyance from the IRA-2 which was the stiff hard wired serial cable.

Keep in mind, its a receiver only- you have to get the tIRA or USBUIRT if you need to control anything with it

So I got this thing up and running.

Don't bother with Girder unless you already know what you're doing with it, it's confusing as hell. I played with it for over 20 min and couldn't get anywhere with it so I downloaded Eventghost.

Eventghost works fantastically with this device, and works really well with sage. the only thing I haven't got working properly is the key repeat, which is going to take some fine tuning, but it was stupid easy to assign the IR codes from my Hauppauge remote to the SageTV macros. setup with Eventghost took me about 20 minutes to get good functionality.

I've got it extended over about 70' of cat5 and it works great.

My only gripe is that the talk back LED stays on all the time and blinks off when you use a remote, imo it should be the other way around. you can turn it off completely with the config utility from their website.

overall, this device solves my problem, was cheap, and very easy to set up

Got my IRA 3 receiver w/ cable today and I would like to report back...

- Installation was easy (I'm on WinXP), no driver needed, instruction leaflet included
- Has an LED indicator so you can see it's working
- Works with EventGhost (UIR/IRman and SageTV) plugin
- Works with any IR remote control
- A cheaper alternative to USB UIRT if you only need a receiver.
- Excellent response time on customer inquiries

I give this device UP!!
