Setup question do i need both MyMovies(WHS) and Collection Manager?

To preface this, i did read the Wiki and I did read the awesome setup guide, and I am still confused.

I currently have 1 Sage install on a Windows 7 machine and 1 HD200. The extender is the only thing i use to watch content. My movies are stored on a share on my HP MediaCenter.

Currently, I have My Movies for WHS installed on the MediaCenter and Collection management on my Windows 7 box.

My question is, do I even need the WHS install of My Movies? In my reading, it seems that is just redundant in my particular setup. I will be moving to Sage 7 and MyMovies once all shows are off for the winter and wanted to make sure i am ready to go once i make the switch.

You need to have My Movies installed on the machine running Sage server. If that is NOT your WHS then no-you don't need the My Movies for WHS. You would need the My Movies Collection Management on the SageTV server (which makes it work for all your extenders) and you would need Collection Management installed on any other PC clients running Sage for the PC clients to be able to use it. (that's my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.)

Correct.

Gerry just wanted to say thanks you are constantly helping out users of this project and it is much appreciated. As well as thanks to others that help out I don't have the time to constantly answer anymore.

Awesome, then I will remove the unnecessary install on my WHS machine and get the Collection Manager updated on my win 7 box with my login info so i can get my points and my backgrounds downloading.

By removing my WHS install, will I have to re-do everything in my Collections manager?

If you treated the WHS install as the Master and the Collection Manager was connecting to it I think you could just backup the database on the WHS and then copy the backup to the Collection Manager machine. Then stop Collection Manager from connecting to the WHS database and use the local database. Do a restore of the database in Collection Manager and it should reflect everything that was in WHS. You may also want to setup Monitoring on your Collection Manager and double check all you option settings so that they are the same. (login, backdrop sizes, etc.)
