BMT & Diamond - Season Banners / Posters - (and a few other questions) - SOLVED

Hi,

I have been messing around with BMT and TV series for the last few days with mixed results.

First I was having problems with the fan art not saving as for some reason it was trying to save it in SageHome/STVs/honePnix/Fanart. And some of the options that should be enabled by default according to the user manual where not, so once that was corrected I only had fanart for part of my collection and it was a bit of a mess.

I deleted all fanart and properties files and started searching again, program by program and unchecking "only update items that have not been previously updated". I changed all scaling options to -1 as well.

Now it will download new properties files, backgrounds, banners & posters as normal but in the season folder it will only download Episodes pictures (sometimes partly) and it will not even attempt to download any season banners or posters. How can I fix this?

I also don't see where it gets some of it's artwork from. I only have the default TVDB setup for TV series but I have found in the diamond cache folder Family Guy / Frasier Season Banners that are not on that website?

A couple of other questions
1. Where does BMT store the program write up information?
2. How can I get Episode Pictures to show in the diamond theme? (I either have blank or them generated from the video file)
3. I assume the problem with 24 didn't get fixed as mine shows the wrong episode / season numbers?

I've never used the diamond theme, so you'll have to post that those those guys.

Do you it's metadata? If so, BMT writes directly to the sagetv database called the Wiz.bin.

2. How can I get Episode Pictures to show in the diamond theme? (I either have blank or them generated from the video file)

See my comment above about diamond. But i suspect that they'll need to implement the feature to use episode fanart.

Not sure... I have 24 in my collection, and it's been working... maybe you can share some filenames, and I can test.

Hi,

the webservice was disablled (not sure if it was meant to be on by default) but as I read in the manual these 2 options are meant to be enaballed - enable fanart and auto metadata.

A show that I know that was fully downloaded the first time and only partially now is Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Currently it has backgrounds, banners, posters and then in the season 1 folder there is only a episodes folder with 2 files in it - 0001.jpg & images.
This is saved as
E:/TV Episodes/Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles/ Season 01/Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - 01x01 - Piot.mkv (01x02 - Gnothi Seauton.mkv) (01x03 - The Turk) etc

Im not even sure if diamond uses the episodes picture, I just assumed it does, I'll get BMT downloading correctly first - one step at a time

Regarding 24 I am having the same problem as mentioned here http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48827
My files are stored as per above and labelled
Season 01/ 24 - 01x01.avi
Season 01/ 24 - 01x02.avi
Season 01/ 24 - 01x03.avi etc...

Some details of my setup -
Win 7 Ultimate 64
Fresh Install of Sage 7.0.23.246
Java 1.6.0_15
Pheonix - 2.3.6
api version - 7.0.23.3

We pull all fanart in diamond direct from phoenix calls except for posters. Posters will look for phoenix fanart first and secondly folder.jpg and thirdly any thumbnail from sagetvs GetThumbnail. We don't download any fanart ourselves so what you are seeing is either from BMT or you have downloaded it manually.

didn't know BMT was able to download the episode fanart interesting. I didn't catch the change that BMT was doing this, but yes as Stuckless stated we haven't implemented this and not sure if we will right now we use the thubmnail from the actual video file.

Stuckless - after you mentioned the wizbin file I figured that whatever was stopping season info being downloaded would be due to the wizbin already thinking I have the images (or something along them lines).

I have cleared out all the references to my TV collection the best I could (in sage & BMT) by deleting .properties, removing paths, unimporting recordings, remove fantart, clear cache and a few restarts.

I am glad to say that after doing this and rescanning my shows 1 at a time that I am now downloading all art work including season banners & posters (even banners that i can not find whilst browsing TVDB).

It is also pulling down the info a lot quicker than before so something must have been amiss.

24 has downloaded better than before, with the correct season and episode numbers but it has skipped around 25% of the files.

Plucky - thanks for the reply. It would be good in the future if you could firstly use the episode picture and then the video thumbnail. I have 'men behaving badly' and around 90% of the thumnails show the same picture from the opening title screen.

If the 25% that are failing, for 24, could you post some filenames. I'll test with those.

Also, keep in mind that BMT relies on the uptime of tvdb. A lot of media centers are using tvdb for their metadata/fanart, so the site does get overwhelmed. When that happens, bmt can no longer download the fanart, since the site becomes unresponsive. I suspect that this is happening in your case... I've seen it happen on occasion as well.

I think you are right. I also had a lot fail on Lost & Heroes but I have just left it an hour and retried and everything has updated correctly.

Now I just need to get my DVB-S card back from repair and I will be one happy MC to Sage convertee.
