IR USB Blaster Other Than USB-UIRT? Driving Me Nuts-Can't Remember
I saw a post in here, relatively new, of a USB-UIRT type blaster, and I can't remember the name. Not Actisys for sure.
Anyone help me remember that? The poster said they had just got it, but it was buried in a thread about the USB-UIRT and I can't find it in the tons of posts. thanks for any help

USB-UIRT is the only real option for Windows and 3rdparty software
DirecTV satellite boxes can be controlled through serial port with use of DirecTV serial control or Paterson Technology USB TV Translator. Some Motorola DCT2000 cable boxes can also be controlled through the use of a serial port. For get the Hauppauge onboard IR Baster there useless pass one card unless it under Linux. There also MCE Remote Kit w/ IR blaster but it to is usless outside of MCE. As far I know of only Linux has a more of option CommandIR, Hard to find IR500P there are min other hack way. |

DVBlogic uses the MCE IR blaster with Sage on the HDPVR's. This is working perfectly for me.
But it requires the DVBlogic software.

Thanks. I was probably misunderstanding the unit that only worked with MCE.

In the past, I used an MCE remote and blaster. Both the remote and blaster functioned very well once I installed the "LM Remote KeyMap" software. Look for posts by StephaneM or go to the LM Gestion web site (http://www.lmgestion.net/). Since acquiring an HD PVR, I retired the MCE remote and blaster and, instead, have used the HD PVR's remote (with a USB UIRT as an IR receiver only) and firewire for channel changing. I've been tempted, on occasions when the USB UIRT freezes, to return to the MCE remote, but haven't done so. The MCE remote (not the blaster function) is supported directly by SageTV. You will need the above software or similar to get the blaster function.
You can find an MCE Remote Kit w/ IR blaster on NewEgg for $35 plus shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-019-_-Product Mine was an older MCE 2005 version; but, I'm guessing the newer ones will work as well.

Was it the Adicon stuff?
An Ocelot combined with an SECU16-IR? This is more for home automation stuff but could be considered maybe a USB UIRT on steroids. LOL http://www.appdig.com/adicon_new/ocelot.htm http://www.appdig.com/adicon_new/secu16ir.htm |
