Black bar with pVr 350
Hi,
I'm using PVR 350 with tv out. It works fine - beside a nasty black bar at the lower part (almost a third) of the screen (using hauppauges original software there is no such black bar). Any suggestions? Till |

try adjusting the aspect ratio
you can adjust the size and horizontal and vertical shift |

I've tried that before, the picture changes a little, the black bar just stays the same.

does the video become hidden behind the black bar when you shift the aspect ratio?
are you using source, fill, 4x3, or 16x9? you could try some of the others and try again adjusting the aspect ratio for each( well 16x 9 would not help if you are using a standard TV) |

I have had the same problem with the TV out, changes to the aspect ratio do not affect the black bar, it is as if the offset for the output needs adjusting

Exactly as Dan says. The black bar is just always the same size and there is never ever nothing in it to be seen, no matter what the settings are (and I think I tried them all ..)
Found out another strange thing as well: when using hauppauge WinTV 2000 prior to starting SageTV everything works fine with tv-out. After Using SageTV the same black bar would be there when using WinTV 2000. Till |

As Dan and I are European users - maybe it's a problem only occuring usin PAL.

I have exactly the same problem and have tried everything I can think of. Must, as you say, be something to do with PAL

Hi Micke,
thanks for your reply. I haven't found any solution until now. But I'm afraid no one really cares about our problem (or should I call it a bug?). Probably the sage people only focus on the US market ... Anyway: let's hope for some future version. Till |

Haved you tried the latest 350 drivers? New Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination I don't know if they will fix your problem, but they have corrected a lot of problems.

Thank's for your hint. I just gave them a try. Sorry, but it didn't help.
As I said before, I don't think it's a problem with the driver. When using hauppauge's orginal software prior to using sagetv there is no such black bar using tv-out. It must be caused by the sagetv software. |

I will try them thanks.
I played around a bit more with the card yesterday and i think i pushed every button and tried every thing in the applikations that followd the card, and suddenly ive got a hole picture. But when i started up sage it was all back again So i figure it must have something to do with sage. And futermore i cannot stream livetv to the clients. And the last thing is that i dont get any picture. I must say when i started to test this produkt i was amaized but nu everything just .......... if i turn on wintv2000 the picture is ther. But i will surtenly try this new drivers, thanks again.

Well i gave a try and as i0900j2 sas it dosnt help, i have mailed hap.... about this and asked them. But i hasnt got any answer yet.
But im know surten that Sage is the problem, i played around with it some more and i now have picutre again but i cannot get i right on the tellie. The only way i could get it right is from wintv2000 after i fiddled with aspectratio back and forth a couple of times. But its goes back to big blac bar state right away when i start sage again. This i truly bad and sad since this is a greate product otherwise. I just love to have the same frontend and be able to pause and so on everywhere. Pleeeease Sage cant you fix this ??

I had this problem myself, so to fix it...
In sage.properties (in install dir.) change, OSD_fixed_height from 480 to 576. Has to be done with Sage closed, not sleeping. and then change the Registerkey NTSC=1 to 0 (don't have Sage at work so I don't remember the exact location) Restart Sage. Worked for me anyway. Thank you sweden. It worked!
Anyway I think the sage people should think about the fact that PAL useres have to change properties and registry to get their software to work. |
