Press a menu button once... then twice....

Okay, if I hit the 'guide' button once, it brings up the guide. If I hit it again, it should CLOSE THE GUIDE.

Why doesn't Sage incorporate some of these simple convienience features? Also why do we have to hold down the fast forward button to fast forward?

There are so many SMALL things that make a PVR a pleasure to use... this is why Tivo is so popular because it's got user interface and interaction down to genious levels.

I'm telling you Frey.. hire me for a week and I'll change the bloody software around

So what then happens to the convenient way to jump back to the current time after looking ahead?

Pressing the Guide button will bring you back to the current time.

gplasky, exactly. Hercules would like the guide to close if you press guide while viewing the guide. My point was if that's the way the guide button worked, how would I then be able to jump back to the current time. Now that I've looked at nielm's deja vu post, I see that's the exact same point Crowdx42 made when Hercules posted the same request 4 days ago.

Yeah-OK-I see where this is going. I guess it's just like the left arrow in the guide doesn't take you to the main screen like it does eleswhere either. The Guide is a little like a special screen where some things just need to be done a little differently. I love the way pressing the Guide button takes you back to your current day/time. But you don't realize it does that if you're on the Guide on your current day/time. It appears to do nothing. Maybe once the user manuall comes out people will get a better understanding of some of the special uses of the commands on different screens and it will start to make more sense.
