MythTV Fans......

Anybody willing to see if they can impliment a theme like the current MythTV theme? Being open source, I would imagine there is no legal issues with using the images etc..... http://www.mythtv.org/modules.php?name=MythFeatures

While I'm at it. How about Freevo or XBMC themes. Those are also open source and probably free of legal issues.

My wife has explicitly asked for a very different alternative: ReplayTV.

Folks need to remember that functionality and useability often compete. I'd sooner request folks devote at least some effort towards the useability direction...

Eh, gimmick in my opinion. None of them work 100%, so I don't use them. If I have to hit FFWD ever then I would just rather use my FFWD2 + FFWD1 combo. But that's me.

Ditto again. If it did work though it would be nice. Had to stop using it in ReplayTV and BTV because of the guesswork.

Yeah, I tried auto commercial skip on BTV3. Not bad. It seems to be as about as accurate as doing FF2. Either way, I ususally end up doing a FF or two just like the FF2+FF combo.
Oh that note. I wonder if somebody wrote a chapter skip utility to scan the files SageTV has recorded, if Sage will utilize chapter markings. Has anybody tried? I kno BTV uses an XML format for their chapter markings, but what about embedding them?

The Replay's and Myth do a pretty good job of commercial skip. You may think it's a gimmick, but there is a reason that even Tivo employee's buy ReplayTV DVR's for their kids' TV's.

Lack of commercial skip in Sage is a big deal, if it had that I might leave Myth and go back to Sage.

Thanks,
Mike

Problem is you need a new way to do it. Scene detection (like Replay and BTV - not sure how Myth does it) does not work well any more because the networks are onto it. Too bad they don't put markers in the video .

They dont do that good of a job. They will mark the end of a break as the begining and the next as the end. That means you skip whole chunks of a show. Thats the same issue with BTV. The black screen and volume change are no more reliable then the 3:00 minute commercial break or the start time of a show anymore. They are trying to make it harder to skip the breaks so they dont lose the advertising dollars that keeps them running.
