Media library is broken

Hi all

Most of my videos and music live on a server, served up by SMB. The files were imported into Sage 2.0. Recently, the name of the server was changed. I also changed the UNC path in the SageTV setup. However, Sage is still showing all the old files and not the new ones. Clicking on the "Refresh Media Library" doesn't fix the problem (which is the real problem, as even if the server name didn't changed the files on the server will, so a refresh occasionally will be necessary nyway).

How can this be fixed?

As far as I have been able to figure out, Sage doesnt remove media library entries if the entire library directory is not reachable...
So to see that a file has been removed, you need to let Sage see the library directory, and let it see that it is empty... This might be difficult as you have changed the server name

I also think that removing/re-adding the library directory in the detailed setup might help, but I would assume that this is how you changed the UNC path?

(Sage refreshes the media library periodically anyway -- the Refresh command was added so that people can tell sage to look at newly inserted removable media -- DVD's etc)

Have you also tried deleting the files in the Sage video library? if the files are not accessible, this should just delete the library entry

I can't say if Ver2 is the same, but I had a similiar issue with 1.4. I changed the computer name on a shared dir. used by SageTV. The old entries stayed and could not be flushed. After talking with Jeff, I temporarilly changed my computer's name back to the old name. I then moved the files out of the dir to a temp dir and then Sage was able to remove the entries. I then changed the computer back to the new name and reimported the shared dir(after moving them back from the temp dir).

I know this is a round about way to go, but this issue should only occur when you change the server's name. Nielm's description of Sage's behavior is accurate, to my knowledge. It behaves this way to help prevent the lose of data if a network share is temporalily unavailable. You shouldn't have this issue if you are just re-arranging the dir/file structure.

Thanks guys. However, I found that things corrected themselves of their own accord; it just took quite a while. The library must have been refreshing in the background, I guess. This is a 200Gb disk of mostly short video clips, so it was probably just the time required.
