Amazon VOD opens up 5,000 movies to their Prime Subscribers - Free!

I just read that you are an Amazon Prime Subscriber, Amazon is now sharing 5,000 their VOD movies with you as a Value add. Meaning Free!

Link [amazon.com]

I just did a quick scan and there are some fairly good movies in the list. Now I am not feeling so jilted about paying for PlayOn.

Lets hope this trend continues to grow!

Have you been able to put any of the movies into your Amazon library so they show up in playon?

Yeah it works fine for me. Haven't tried in a few weeks but before that I had never had any issues.

Yep it looks like it never goes into your queue. So I am not seeing Playon conquering this very soon... Oh well guess we can wait and see...

I wonder what requirements Amazon has for getting this into embedded media devices? Or maybe even into the core SageTV itself? I've heard the stumbling block with netflix is that they only want to deal with large volume devices. Maybe Amazon is willing to deal with smaller entities. I've heard it works via a flashplayer, so "all" they need is a hardware accelerated flashplayer for the HD300

I'm hoping they'll build it into the stock software/device!! I'm not going to pony up for PlayOn based on feedback I've read here.. I'd rather have it stream natively..

We've been able to watch Amazon.com VOD movies through PlayOn for quite some time. I found you have to add a movie to your Amazon.com Video Library, click on the movie to start playing it on the computer, then just close the browser. This starts the movie in your queue, then you can browse PlayOn within SageTV, go to PlayOn Info > Server Options > Restart PlayOn. Once PlayOn restarts, I have access to watch the movie in the PlayOn Amazon VOD folder. I haven't tried this with the Prime Membership, but I would assume it works the same if the movies/shows are added to the Amazon.com Video Library.

That is the problem. You can not add the movies to your Amazon Video Library.
