Drives: Several TB of internal SATA and external USB drives, no NAS or RAID or such...
Software: SageTV v9x64, stock STV with ADM.
Tuners: 4 tuners via (2) HDHomeruns (100% OTA, DIY antennas in the attic).
Clients: Several HD300s, HD200s, even an old HD100, all on wired LAN. Latest firmware for each.

Nothing in Amazon VOD is working for me today. I keep getting "Error: The requested media file was not found on the server". Anyone else experiencing this today?

Amazon VOD not working as well

Actually, Amazon VOD has not been working for a while....Since the last update on the Playon Plugin.... We need a fix ASAP....

Amazon VOD is also not working for me since about Saturday (12/22). It has been working on the latest version of the plug-in even with the problems of the plug-in changing the STV version when enabled.

The error is:

There was an error downloading ---

Error: Error: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Readtimedout

Since are no reports of problems on the Playon forums, I can only guess that there has been some change at Amazon that the plugin (or (SageTV) cannot handle.

I just got finished talking to Playon Support (via email) they have confirmed that Amazon VOD is having an issue.

Playon said:
"Unfortunately Amazon is having an issue at the moment concerning their "Pop Out" option. This is definitely causing the current issue. Hopefully Amazon will resolve this issue soon but in the mean time, if you'd like, you should contact Amazon's video support and request that they fix the "Pop Out" issue.

There is no need to mention PlayOn, since this may confuse the customer support personal and cause them to dismiss your request entirely. You just need to mention that the "Pop Out" option on their player is not working at the moment."

FYI, Playon initially tried to blame my firewall or antivirus, I had to insist that was not the issue before they looked into it further.

Amazon has now fixed the issue with their VOD service per PlayOn and some users over on their forums. It's working for me again in SageTV.

Which version of PlayOn are you using?

I have the latest version and mine is not working... Just wondering
what could be the problem on my end..

Here are some things to try on the playon server:

Please try resetting Internet Explorer for the Local System account and user account. The easiest way to do that is to follow these instructions:
1. Stop the PlayOn server
2. Hold SHIFT+ALT while starting the server again
3. In the Internet Explorer window that opens, click on Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > and click Reset
4. Reset all of the security and Advanced settings
5. Close this IE window
6. Repeat these steps for the user account by opening Internet Explorer from the Start menu
7. Try to reproduce the problem
When you try to access VOD directly from IE on that server you will probably see Amazon upgrade the "player", you should see an orange thermometer indicating its being updated. I seems to me that Amazon keeps upgrading the VOD client, last time was the last week of October. Same crap happened then too.

help using playon with sage

I have playon installed on the same server that sage is installed on. I have multiple mvp accessing the sage server. I can watch a show from playon from one mvp but when i try another one the first one stops and the second one starts. I want to watch multiple shows on different mvp how can i do this?

No, unfortunately Playon can only be accessed by one client at a time.

Yes, Playon itself can serve to more than one client. However, the SageTV Playon plug in is using the same IP address for all SageTV clients. This means that Playon sees every SageTV device as a single client.

Amazon VOD still not working

@BigBill, I did all the steps, and Amazon VOD is still not working....

@Bclenney, according to my playon settings (when I press check for optional version update), the latest version is 3.6.16.4239, and that's the version that I'm running....

Setting up playon to work properly seems to be quite a challenge... There are many variables to keep track (playon itself, playon plugin, content providers' players, etc.).

Perhaps you could give us a detailed description of the steps you go through to try to use it and exactly where in the process it fails and what happens. It's certainly working for me with the latest versions of PlayOn and the PlayOn Plugin.

EDIT: Has it ever worked for you? I notice that you're in Canada and that COULD be different.

Amazon VOD within SageTV is still not working

Hello,

I'm using the latest software (SageTV, GemStone, PLayon PLugin, PLayon).

Amazon VOD is working perfectly well within my browser setup.

But, within SageTV, I get the error message:

Error: The requested media file was not found on the server.

As soon as I click on a specific media item (film or TV).

My STV is not up to date due to the playon plugin issue that was discussed
in this forum thread earlier, so I have the same error msg for YouTube.

My STV is not up to date either, but VOD is still working (after the problem last weekend) You didn't answer the question about whether it was working before the VOD problem last weekend?

Try this:

1. Start something playing in your browser.

2. Click "Pop out". (to the right of the playing video)

3. A window should open and the same video should play in that window after a few seconds.

4. If the window is black and stays black, then Amazon has not fixed the "Pop out" problem in Canada.

5. If 4 is true, complain to Amazon that "Pop out" does not work for you (do NOT mention PlayOn).

(PlayOn uses the "Pop out" feature and will not work if it doesn't work.)
