Netflix queue has not worked for a long time. I go to playon and click on netflix and one of the options is your queue.

Yes. You go to playon menu in sage and click on it. Then click the netflix icon and the next menu will have the option for your queue.

Ya, that's the problem with me. My queue shows empty.

And I do have movies in the queue.

HD in playon

I upgraded playon to HD, but it seems that the plugin only pulls the shows in SD . When i viewed playon in xbmc on my ipad, the shows did look in widescreen. I only tried amazon prime shows.

Did you try the shows that specifically say "HD". Only those will be in HD and often there are both HD and SD versions of the same show.

It also depends on the speed of your internet connection. At 6 mb/s I get quite reliable HD although I've seen it change down to SD on occasion.

and...do you have to have the PlayOn software installed and activated on the same machine that's running Sage?

Install the playon plugin after you have installed and configured playon including username and password for any of the channels you will be trying.

when you say "configured playon", does that mean installing their app on your SageTV server?

Play-On working for 2.5 years

Still using my Sage 7.
We disconnected our cable from Comcast over 2.5 years ago.
We don't miss a thing.
Playon has a lot plugins.

We use
ProjectTV - All tv programs current and going back 20 years.
One - All movies current

We canceled our Netflix because all Movies are available from 'ONE' channel.

I also have live TV from my Antennas.

Sage TV will live on for many more years. Kind of like Star Trek.

I don't know why more people don't use Play-On.

Very interesting. However I don't see the plug-ins you mention in the PlayOn plug-in store. Also, I watch Sage on my server computer. Did PlayOn ever fix the aspect ratio bug that caused problems when trying to view it without an extender (i.e., directly on the server)?

So where did you find these 2 plugins? ProjectV and One? I've been looking at their site and searching the plugins and they are not there. Also, can you view these from the sagetv plugin?

thanks for any help

There are multiple different "third party" PlayOn plugin websites, and some of the more active devs have started their own depository websites where you can find just their stuff. Unfortunately, many of them have started charging for their plugins; yeah, it's their right to do so, but some don't work in Sage, and Sage isn't "officially" supported by PlayOn any longer (and since it's dead, the devs aren't going to spend time trying to figure out why their plugin doesn't work in it, and EvilPenguin is sadly vanished from here), so I'm adverse to paying when it might not work.

There are at least 4 movie plugins for PlayOn found through playonplugins.com, probably similar to the "One" mentioned above.

As for OldPCGuy's final question, the impression I've always gotten is that the Sage PlayOn plugin has historically had issues with netflix (far and away the main reason Sage users tried it... and then quit), and also because for the most part, it's not HD. For example, very, very few (if any?) cable channels archive their full episodes in HD. Many archive them at half of 720p (640x360) or so, not even "standard SD" (480). And even though, on a 42"-or-so HDTV, those shows look reasonable, many here are dead-set against even considering that watchable. ...Whereas my wife and young kids (the viewers of 99% of the stuff we get from PlayOn) don't care one bit.

To each, their own, on that aspect...

There is no official channel. I just did a brief search for a plugin or script and didn't find any.

Anyone know what the "Adskipper" feature does with Playon? Is it worth the $10 extra, or is it worthless when used with Sage?

http://www.playon.tv/features/adskipper

Sounds like it is included with playon and playlater. And if you read carefully it puts chapter marks in your playlater recordings and sounds like it may work just like sage tv's comskip plug in works since it uses playlater and can't do it without recording the shows.

Thanks for the heads up on it as I never got a notice about it yet.

ah, ok. that sounds good then. What I don't understand about Playon/Sage interaction: does the Playon plugin only allow access to streams from Playon, or could you access these 'recorded' files that are created with Playlater as well via the Sage plugin?
