Will Sleepmode/focus issues be fixed soon?

I am sure most of you are aware of the problem with Sagetv not giving back focus to a fronted (if you launched it from a frontend) after putting SageTV to "Sleep". Will this be fixed? If so, are we talking about soon? Thanks. SageTV is unuseable without giving focus back.

Did you ever try this tip from your last thread about this issue. I'm curious to see how it worked/didn't for you.

Doesn't work for me. If I use that tip,Sage launches fine initially (when not in the tray already) but goes black if I try it while in the tasktray (sleeping).

Yes-I saw the same issue using that line in the properties file too. I'm trying to see if I can come up with a LUAscript as a workaround until this is fixed. I have actually noticed if I put Sage to sleep and have another app present in the taskbar, if I alt-tab there still appears a Sage icon I can choose even though the app is sleeping in the tray. It looks like a rogue window still exists in some situations after sleeping.

dispose_windows seems to work for me w/o problems, but in case no one did this yet, I sent a link to this thread to Frey to make sure they are aware of this focus issue. It is definitely not giving up focus properly w/o this property, but obviously this setting isn't working for everyone.

Just curious Andy-do you have 3d acceleration enabled or disabled? Mine's enabled..so you can see where I'm going with this.

Oh yeah... I can see where you are going, or maybe I should say that I _can't_ see where you are going. For some reason (don't know why), I had 3D acceleration disabled. I enabled it & now I see the black screen that you see.

I also noticed something else: with dispose_windows=true, I can change the 3D acceleration setting, but it won't update the setting on-screen. (I know it changed because ui/accelerated_rendering changed in the property file when I exited.) With dispose_windows=false, toggling the 3D acceleration setting in detailed setup will change the view each time you select it.

Until this gets fixed, I suppose it comes down to which is more important: changing focus upon sleeping or 3D acceleration.

Yes. 3D Acceleration being turned off and using that switch in the properties file did the trick. Hopefully there will be a real fix for the problem later on but I am happy with this at least.

Good thing I am not outputting to an SDTV then . Just playin. I'm happy. Now all we have to do is get someone to make a web interface for scheduling recordings....

Has anyone else had a problem where going into Livetv makes the video appear on the top left corder in a very small window rather than fullscreen? Is this a proble with no 3d acceleration? The problem is unrecoverable without forcing SageTV to shutdown in the processes tab. Definately happens a lot as well. I'd say it happens 50% of the time I have tested. Thanks.

In Detailed Setup -> Video Renderer, what is the setting? Try Default or Overlay if it is VMR9.

Hi,

This is the same issue which is an issue with using the ARCADE game UI with MAME. It seems that if you launch another program (i.e. MAME) which uses direct draw, then close it, direct draw is confused with Sage. I solved it with MAME by turning off direct draw in the mame.ini file. You can also work around the issue by turning off VMR9 or 3D acceleration [same result - works].

Just as another data point, I have been able to recover from the black screen, by causing Sage to play a video [pretty tough without a UI], left, left, sel, sel, sel I think... After a few seconds the video shows up and I can get the Sage UI to work again. This suggests that Jeff will be able to provide a real solution in the future...

not to get too far off-topic but is it possible to have navigation sounds in Sagetv now? I'd like my interface to match throughout. That would require Sage to allow for sounds. Thanks.

If you're using Girder you could always do it through there until it's supported in Sage. (or if).

gplasky, mind emailing me an example GML? I could probably get it working after playing around for awhile but I might as well see one that is working to make things less painful. I'd like the sound to only play when my Sagetv group is enabled. Thanks a million!

I do not know if this is similiar but I am getting the aspect ratio that is setup for 107% and 107%
but when I go from watching a recording to liveTV
the aspect ratio is back to 100% on both and I found that the work around is the reload media player
and the aspect ratio returns to the defined 107% and 107%
anyone else seen this

Just a possiblity...

Which Video decoder you using? I've seen posts about aspect ratios not sticking with certian decoders/versions. I believe it was the new nVidia , but that's just from memory.
