Cannot change to Service mode

Hello,

I am running the latest Beta and until today have been running in regular user mode. I wanted to try running Sage as a service so opened the ServiceControl and Enabled the service and tried to start it using localsystem and my domain admin login. Neither allow the service to start.

No errors in the Sage log and the only thing in event log is

The SageTV service entered the running state.

Then straight after

The SageTV service entered the stopped state.

I am running W7 64-bit. Am I missing something? UAC is disabled.

Thanks

M

Very odd. I went back to non-service mode and was presented with a Java error saying that it could not start JVM 1.4. (I have 1.5 installed)

I went and lowered the HEAP size back to 512MB and everything now works. I changed this setting maybe two months ago, and the machine restarts every week at least. I modified this through the HKLM/Software/Frey** key.

What is the largest we can go with the Heap size? I have 8GB of physical memory

It depends but for most people i think it is around 1.2 - 1.5 GB. Sage is a 32 bit application and requires a 32bit JVM. It also needs to be contiguous so that reduces the total as well. As you increase your heap at some point it will become unstable.
