Shows not recording
I just setup sage yesterday. So far 3 out of 4 shows that were scheduled to record did not. Is there a log some place that I can check to see why this happened?
Thanks |

Does the user interface need to be running for shows to record? I think this may have been why a couple of them did not record. If so is there a way to make it minimize to the system tray? I have it set this way when it starts but I don't see how to make it go back to the system tray if it is brought up.

If you're not running sage as a service than yes you would need to have the application open.
You can access the service control in your programs folder. I think sage by default when it's installed places a shortcut on your desktop too. When the service is enabled it will record without the GUI running. Also, can be set to auto-resume after crash. So your recordings resume if your computer is rebooted etc. |

, you can move to cursor over exit on the main menu, that will give you standby and exit options. Select the standby option. The sage icon will the appear in the notification area. which you can the use to restore sage or exit it. If you exit you will miss recordings. You may want to also look at the setup->detailed setup->Customize->Action to take when SageTV Window is closed option. It lets you select the action takes when it close it via the normal x on the sage window. You want to select sleep to avoid missing recordings.

I downloaded 7.1.7 beta on Friday and I've been having this same issue. On Sunday, Sage missed every recording until I opened the program. Didn't even wake from standby. And it completely flaked on me with Monday's shows, not recording a thing even though my computer was already awake and I was doing other things at the time. There isn't even a notice about why it didn't record.
I was previously using Sage 6.something (where do I go to download the last build of that now?) and it mostly worked and I installed the new version on top of it. I just rebooted and SageTV was able to record a timed program without the GUI running and again to wake from a sleep state. I really hope it was just a fluke, but if it isn't, the software is completely broken. Also, $80? Again? I bought version 6 for the same price in 2008. While the new interface is nice, I can't say it's worth $80. Even $40 is a bit much to ask for what amounts to just window dressing and I don't even qualify for that discount. The only new thing I noticed was on the Video page where it says DVD/BD, but that doesn't play them, so, I don't understand what that is. Future blu-ray implementation? I really want to support you guys, I'm a fan of SageTV, but I'm really not a fan of this double-dipping with the same price for the same product. I doubt I'm alone in this. I'll report to this thread if I miss anymore recordings. |

If you have a valid V6 license, you qualify for the $40 upgrade price to V7.

Hey, the store doesn't have the December 2009 requirement anymore. That's encouraging.

You misunderstood that requirement. For a limited time, people with V6 licenses newer than Dec 09 were entitled to a free upgrade to V7. People with licenses older than that have always qualified for the $40 upgrade price. Only people with no previous SageTV license pay full price.

Oops.
Looks like Sage got everything for tonight. I'm going to see if my computer will wake from standby tomorrow night. |
