Cannot connect to Internet?

SageTV is telling me it cannot connect to the SageTV server when I'm trying to set up my sources. System was down for several months and I moved to a new area with digital cable (Louisville, KY). I bought a new HVR-950q and upgraded to version 7. It initially set up ok, but wouldn't pull guide data nor allow me to set the weather location. I removed the video source and tried to re-add it and it keeps saying it can't connect to the SageTV server when I put in the zip code for the guide.

I'm a 20+ year I.T. veteran--Internet access is fine, no blocked ports, Windows firewall is disabled, rebooted, etc. Any suggestions? Should I do a fresh install?

Do you have more than one NIC in your Sage system? Maybe Sage is binding to the wrong one.

If that's not the issue, you could try putting Wireshark on it to see where those outbound packets are getting hung up.

If you do suspect multiple NICs, then use the "miniserver/forced_server_ip=" parameter in the sage properties file to specify the IP address to use. I have doubts about this being a muliple NIC issue but have no other ideas. You should be able to determine the issue with Wireshark.
