Another glitch with recording last night

Well as in a previous thread I thought that Sage messing up recordings was due to storage drives being full, seems I am wrong.
Last night there were two shows being recorded, American Idol and Enterprise. At 9:04 American Idol stopped recording and then resumed 10 minutes later. I have no idea what happened, but it only happened to that show, Enterprise as far as I can tell is fine (have not watched yet but it is a complete file at the right size for a one hour show).
I am very confused with what is happening now, also on the playback of the file it twice skipped to the end at the playback 9:04 time, finally my PVR 350 locked up and when I put Sage to sleep and then woke it up (no restart) it played the file BUT with no UI, again I disabled the UI, put Sage to sleep, then enabled UI when I woke it and then it worked fine. So this may have been a PVR 350 glitch, have had no other glitches in the last week (even though I have not being watching a lot of tv) since I did fresh installs with new wiz.bi files.
Not sure where to go with this now, what do you guys think? Is it a hardware issue? Sage does not have any log files so can't see if it had the problem or if it is one of the cards in the machine. I have had all cards recording before with no issues, weird thing is that it was last Wednesday that I had pretty much this issue before even though this is not as bad.
VERY STRANGE

If you watch this on the server, does it play correctly? Played from the server do you have those gaps? What kind of network are you running (wifi or wired)?

Yes, there are 3 files on the server which represent American Idol that is where I have the time stamps. 2 large files which are the main show segments and then a 800kb file which is also a snippet of the show in the middle gap. Sage identified them all as the same show but is missing that 10 mins in the middle.

yeah sageTV did the same thing to me one night
I started up sage while it was recording futurama and it stopped recording the show for 10 minutes
I actually posted this in mlbdude's customization cause it happened after using his skin but I agree with him that is a Sage problem not his skins

Well I have two ideas of what may have happened. FIrst is that Enterprise including padding would have ended recording at that time and ALSO around that time (not entirely sure) we started watching a recorded show on Sage Client.
Seems like another Sage bug.

Well I am thinking it has to do with my Client starting to watch tv, last week I did the same thing, I started watching the show it was recording and it screwed up everything. BUT the only weird thing is I was watching live shows earlier and had no problems, also I often watch live shows while recording and it does not reproduce this problem.
VERY weird, gonna try a couple of things later to see can I reproduce the error.

Watching the show that screwed up or a different show as it was recording? How many tuners?

currently I have only one but my second one gets here tomorrow
and I was watching the show I was recording
I jumped into the show after it had been recording for a few minutes
then when it hit around ten minutes it just jumped another ten minutes and It was gone
those ten minutes of show were gone
I set as recording error so I will get it next time
has not happened since
I am also getting little skips that are in the recording every once in a while
I am thinking it is because this system use to have a -15 tuner in it and now has a -16 in it
this weekend when I get my other card I am updating to XP PRO and doing a nice clean install of my new hardware also getting a Lite-On DVD +/-RW

Sounds like a Sage issue not a PVR 250 problem. I have all fresh installs since the PVR 350 problems I was having and so everything is using the latest hauppauge official drives, same revisions on all machines.
I did a full fresh OS install of my client machine today but I do think it is the server that has a problem,

Well again, Sage screwed up, again I was watching a show on the client and Sage was supposed to be recording Frasier at 10:30, recording only started at 10:36 and then when I tried to watch in Sage itself if played up to the commercial break and then when I tried to skip the break it jumped to the end and refused to rewind and play the rest of the file.
Anyone know if there is any way to enable a log file in the full version of Sage, I have no way of knowing if Sage is giving up an error or if it is competely a hardware issue causing the failed recordings.

Have you tried contacting Frey's Technical Support? It certainly doesn't sound like it is operating the way it should & so far no one here has come up with a definite cause or solution.

Yes, I emailed tech support when I posted this message originally, they replied wanting more details which I supplied and I have not heard anything from them since.

Well I have reproduced the problem. If I set up several recordings with padding and then watch a previously show from the client it messes up one of the scheduled recordings. To reproduce this error I setup 3 shows to start recording at the same time with 5 mins padding (same on each show) and then started to watch a recorded show which would take me into the time when Sage starts the scheduled recordings. The show I watch is from a client machine at the tv.
Can anyone else here reproduce this or is it my system that has the problem?
Patrick

Yeah it seems that every night that the screen savers records I always have a nice hard skip in the video
and it is not a software decoding issue
it is in the file itself
I have not seen the issue with many other shows just that one
usually in the middle

Well I have reverted back to RC3 and still can reproduce this problem so it is not just the retail version. I have now updated my drivers on the machine to latest (May 10th) nForce2 drivers and have set it again to see if the problem persists.
I have never seen this happen to me with shows recording and nothing being watched at the time, it is always if I am watching and recording.

kny3twalker you have only one decoder? Correct?
I have finished doing multiple configs with my hardware and nothing seems to solve the problem.
The only thing I haven't tried is a FULL fresh install of XP with Standard PC selected. Having said that, it seems like it is Sage that has the problems while streaming a file and recording at the same time cause it know all the files are from the same shows which seems it has tagged them as all the one show and would then lead me to think it knows what is happening?
Make sense?

Well I uninstalled SageTV, deleted all the files, did a full fresh setup and I still have the same problems when all 4 encoders are working. I have checked and it is not any specific encoder, it varies each time I record so it does seem a Sage problem and not hardware.

Crowdx42,

I am seeing this problem also now that I have added a second tuner. It only seems to happen when BOTH tuners are in use.
