HD200 - Analog sound only one side works.

I was walking past my TV yesterday and noticed that only the left side speakers were working. I double checed everything from the TV back to the sage extender. If I swtiched the RCA red and white at the entender sound came out of the other speaker. It is making me think only one of the RCA outputs is working

I went in to setup and checked that the sound was set on analog. Is there something else I should check.

Have you tried with different RCA cables? Or tried the RCA cables to a different device to see if it is outputting to both? At this point, I would suspect the RCA cables.

I was thinking RCA cables.. However is I take the red and white and swap them at the extender the sound moves from one side to the other. To me that means only one side of the extender is working and whatever cable I plug in to that RCA connector on the extender has sound that propagates all the way out to the speaker.

No-that means only one of your audio cables are working. You get sound from both sides by moving a cable from the L output to the R output. That means both outputs are working. Seriously-just replace the cable. You probably have a spare laying around or pull a working one from some other equipment.

Try a new cable first - just to rule out the simplest fix.

If that still doesn't work then you could try using the Optical output of the HD200. If your TV only supports R/L audio then you could use an Optical to R/L converter for $25 (http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2).

Honestly, if this was the pre-Google days I would recommend using this as an excuse to upgrade to an HD300 but...

Yes. Now that I've had my coffee, that makes sense.

I tried no cables... no better. and by switching the sides I can say with some certainty that one side plays no sound....

I guess there is no setting that might cause this?

Have you tried a different input on your TV to rule out a bad input? Or for that matter tried a different device on the same input?

Yes.. because when I switch the RCA jacks at the HD200 the sound goes from the left side of the TV to the right. To me that means both sets of cables are good but only work when plugged in to the one jack.

If this is indeed the case then it would seem your audio port of HD200 has gone bad. I don't know of any setting that would only allow one audio port to work. You could try emailing Sage support if they could possibly help but you're past warranty. Your only other option would be to scour ebay or somewhere else and probably pay a very high price. You could try rolling back to a different firmware level on the off chance that an upgrade went haywire and messed something up. But that seems highly unlikely.
