Another option, but one which you may not want to mess with or expend the money on, is to replace the Hauppauge remote w/one that has more buttons. Yes, I _know_ is still doesn't add the time-out feature you want, but another remote would give you more usable buttons. For around $40 and up, you can use a new remote with the Hauppauge receiver/software or with Girder, though if you use Girder & want to use more buttons, you wold probably be better off using a new receiver until the Girder plugin for the Hauppauge receiver recognizes more buttons than those of the original silver remote.

A lot changes with the 1.4 installation. In your situation I would stick with what you have until Studio is out and make that minor mod.

For a peak at what is included in 1.4 check out this web-page if you have not seen it yet.

Actually, that's what I'm hoping Studio will ultimately allow -- add some of these new STVs' features by picking & choosing which aspects you want. Some features are probably too integrated to pull out individually, but I'm sure that it would be possible to design upgrades that can stand alone.

My Guide on the DirecTV box times out after 2 minutes
it also does where as you scroll through the guide it changes channels to the station you are in the guide then if 2 minutes go by without activity it jumps back to the station you are were on before you entered the guide and exits the guide
You know how many times I have seen this in 2 years
about twice when I got up and walked away leaving it on the guide

2 minutes !
