hauppauge remote stops working

Hello,

I am using SageTV 2.0 Trial with Windows XP on a VIA-EPIA 800MHz mini-ITX with Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350. Everything works great...picture quality, recording, IR-blaster, etc. EXCEPT the hauppauge remote will suddenly stop working. Tapping the keyboard or clicking the sage window to return focus does not solve the problem. In fact, immediately rebooting the machine will not restore the remote. Only after I power down for a few hours and then reboot, will the remote start working again. But then it stop working again after 15 min. of use. It is very wierd and frustrating. Any clue how to solve it? Thanks,

-Mike

Welcome

Just to be safe, you did try new batteries in the Hauppauge remote. Batteries will sometimes exhibit the behavior you describe, especially if you're using rechargables. Sorry, to mention something so simple. But this is the only thing that come to my mind, at the moment.

Yes, i have tried fresh batteries. I should also mention that I am using the TV-out with OSD from the hauppauge 350. I also tried installing the fix that allows control of sage via the remote, when not in focus....and that didn't help. Thanks,

-Mike

You can still control SageTV with the keyboard, though, right? Is the 350 running too hot? Just wondering if that could cause its remote sensor/decoder to stop working... there's another idea why letting it sit for a while helps: maybe it is cooling off.

I just purchased a WinTV Go Plus just to be able to use the remote and I am having a problem where the remote stops responding after a few minutes and does not start working again until a Full Shutdown is performed. I do not have to wait for a while, just full shutdown then turn right back on. Tried a few different batteries as well. I also tried 3 different pci slots.

Restarting the ir software does not fix it. I have to do a complete shutdown.
Probably a hardware failure?
