HDHomeRun (non-Prime) and release 20110925a appears to break Sage
I'm testing it again, but it appears to have broken Sage's ability to tune the HDHR. So hold off for a bit. Of course I'm screwed for the moment.

and just so you know. I was installing the updates for this new Prime I bought, not the old HDHR. And the Prime I'm having issues with because of cablecard activation problems, so its a doorstop and now neither work.

Got it to work, but I had to strip out all previous entries to HDHR's that were in the Sage.properties file first. Been a while since I had to do that.

I have installed HDHR updates with relatively little concern for breaking anything. However, I suppose since Sage can't fix anything on their end anymore, I ought to be a little more cautious about any updates.

Can you explain how to do this? I tried to talk someone through configuring a new HDHR3-US over the phone and each time Sagetv would see both tuners yet find no channels on scanning. He had no issues with channel scan with MCE.

Quote:
To remove the tuners from Sage, if they're there, in the Sage.properties file you'll need to look for all instances of the HDHR device ID, which will look something like "131026F2-0". For the HDHR3 there will be two. they will be under the "mmc/encoders/" section of the file. Like this: mmc/encoders/-2015054143/video_capture_device_name=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 10103B84-0 mmc/encoders/-2015054143/video_capture_device_num=0 mmc/encoders/-2015054143/video_encoding_params=Great mmc/encoders/-2015054143/video_processor= ... You'll want remove all the lines with the same encoder ID (in this instance 2015054143) for that tuner. Make sure the SageTV server is not running when doing this!
