Is there subtitle/CC support for mp4/m4v files

Hi all,

I'm trying to get sage to recognize subtitles in the m4v container. I'm using an hd300 for playback. Has anybody seen this work is my first question? Then second does anyone know what specifics must be done to the encoding of the m4v(pretty much same as mp4) file to properly bring in subtitles to the file? (I'm using handbrake). Thanks for help!

Works fine for me with the HD300 playing MP4 with subtitles, although I usually convert to MKV.

You can use Handbrake, in the Subtitles tab, select the subtitle language track and click Add, or if you have a separate SRT file for the subtitles, then click Import SRT.

for some reason when I convert a CC track in a .ts recording to subtitle in an m4v Sage won't let me activate it. It works fine on my idevices though, I'm thinking I have to do something different with the encoding of it to the mp4 container, i just can't quite figure it out yet. The above way does work for mkv's though.

This was completely a user error on my part, (which i figured was the problem). I had replaced the sageTVTranscoder.exe (aka ffmpeg.exe) file with an interception file to detect what parameters were being sent to it, and my dumb selft forgot to set back the original file. It seems sage relies on this to do a scan on the file and bring the video properties into the library and/or player. It then relies on those to bring up the appropiate playback options. This is what I believe is happening anyways... Now to solve another problem (see thread on Custom Conversion, m4v files aren't being recognized as valid .ts recording replacements)
