Sage, Firefly, DVD's

I got a Firefly and am in the process of configuring it to run my Client. First thing I did was reprogram the Firefly button to trigger Sage, rather than BeyondTV. That works fine. Now I'm trying to enable DVD controls (Menu, Next Chapter, Fast Forward, etc) through the Firefly remote. It seems to me that there are two ways to do this, neither of which is working perfectly for me. I'm hoping that some more experienced Sage users might have suggestions or thoughts.

One way to achieve this functionality would be to map the DVD control commands in Sage to unused keystrokes, then edit the Firefly's Sage profile to fire those commands. The Firefly can fire several keystrokes with one button press -- I've already modified the Fast Forward to fire both F8 and cnrtl-F8, for instance. However, mapping to the right buttons is a problem. I map "DVD Menu" to cnrtl-1 and then fire cntrl-1 with the Menu button on the Firefly (seems the most intuitive). Problem is, the Menu button also fires the keystroke for Guide, and the Program Guide comes up even when I'm playing a DVD. I'd like to be able to suppress the Guide coming up when I'm playing a DVD, but I have no idea how to do that.

A second way to achieve DVD control through the Firefly would be to use a third party DVD player (I'm using nvDVD). The Firefly already has a profile for nvDVD, and I can configure the DVD button on the Firefly to fire nvDVD, that works fine. The problem is that when it fires (maximized), I think it doesn't give focus to nvDVD, so that I have to click somewhere on the screen before the Firefly will control nvDVD -- until then, it uses the Default profile and I have no functionality. Also, if I go this route, I'd like to be able to reconfigure Sage so that the Play DVD menu choice calls nvDVD rather than Sage's internal DVD player, and I don't know whether that's possible.

Any suggestions or brainstorms are appreciated.

Are your using the custom profile I posted on the forum?.
Find SageTV-FreyTechnologies-1.4.xml open with notepad and edit line

<Actions Button="DVD" Description="DVD">
<KeyAction Keys="^u" ActivationState="DownRepeat" />
</Actions>

change to

<Actions Button="DVD" Description="DVD">
<KeyAction Keys="" ActivationState="DownRepeat" />
</Actions>

SHS,

I'm using the profile you posted, but I modified that line to launch nvDVD instead of the Sage player. The problem is that nvDVD launches but doesn't grab the Firefly's focus.

The thing you can't have both SageTV DVD and nVDVD enable at the same time you must can used one or other or it will not keep focus that why you need edit SageTV-FreyTechnologies-1.4.xml and remove Keyboard command and restart FireFly.
That not line you modified any way make sure you go to Setting and Media Button change DVD to nVDVD.

I did as you advised, but it didn't make any difference. I had manually edited your Firefly's Sage profile to fire nvDVD when I hit the DVD button. When I delete that, the Firefly defaults back to the Global profile, which I had also programmed to fire nvDVD. So nvDVD is firing just fine. But I have nvDVD starting up maximized and Sage still full screen underneath it and active (if I'm watching a show in Sage, I can still hear the audio of the show I'm watching). This wouldn't be a problem, except that the Firefly is still controlling Sage, not nvDVD. If I'm using a mouse, I can click on the screen anywhere at this point, which seems to set the focus to nvDVD. After I do that, the Firefly controls nvDVD just great. So what I'm trying to do is programmatically replicate that mouse click that gives focus to nvDVD.

Further testing has revealed that this issue has nothing to do with Sage. If you're interested: When nvDVD starts, it leaves a little control panel at the bottom of the screen. Clicking the mouse anywhere onscreen, or hitting the Enter button, or hitting the OK button on the Firefly will bring the video window to the front and send that control panel behind it. At that point, the nvDVD Firefly commands work dandy. I'm going to follow up in the Snapstream Firefly forum.

MLBDude,

The DVD call isn't working on my client. No error message, just fires the internal Sage player. Any ideas?
