Questions from a new user

My ReplayTV died recently for the second time, and so I decided to give a PC
based system a try. I have a Hauppauge PVR-350 and Sage TV 2.0.

* When watching LiveTV on my computer monitor, the video playback stutters. The audio is fine. I don't have a connection yet to a TV so I don't know if it happens for that. I'm running Windows XP Professional on a Dell 2.54 GHz computer with 512 megs of RAM. What could be causing this problem? I've tried adjusting the video options in Sage TV, but nothing has helped.

* I want to set up a second hard drive just for video. What file systems works best for video recording and playback?

* How do I cancel a recording that is currently in progress?

Thanks!

Ernest

What is the cluster size on that partition? A fragmented file with a cluster size less than 64K can cause stuttering.

I use & suggest NTFS using a cluster size of 64K.

There are probably several ways. LiveTV? see the FAQs thread: sleep SageTV or use the Stop command are 2 ways.

For a manual recording, you could use the Record command again to remove the manual recording setting. For a non-manual recording, you could use the Record command twice -- once to turn it on & once to turn it back off. You could mark the show as watched or don't like. You could...
