LiveTv opens in activemovie window

What gives. The UI is in one window, and the video in an activemovie window that cannot be controlled. I have to put sage to sleep and reopen to do anything.

Ati 9600xt
Sonic decoders
Sage set to overlay, sonic, default on everything else.

What version are you running? ActiveMovie reared its head in older builds when the VMR9 renderer couldn't run (ActiveMovie was falling back to Overlay). Newer builds should do this as far as I know. Clearly you're not runnign VMR9, though.

Make sure no other application has possession of the overlay?

I asked this question a few weeks ago and was told then that this is a known bug in 2.0 when you are using Cyberlink's PowerDVD for your mpeg2 en/decoding.

your card does the encoding the powerDVD software only does the software decoding no encoding at all

and yes it is a problem with powerDVD
try uninstalling cineplayer/sonic dvd decoder pack and reinstalling it
I never had a problem with it

if you want to do VMR9 with cyberlink decoder non ATI
I figured out a work around I believe but it is worthless

install beyondTV and use the cyberlink decoder in it with 3d acceleration or what ever it is called
the video plays back about a couple frames per second but cyberlink non ATI can do VMR9
then close beyondTV and open up sage choose VMR9 with cyberlink non ATI decoder and it will do the same thing a couple frames per second but not quite as poorly a beyondTV but still worthless
it only works once though try it the second timme and you get the active window

but it is funny

HAHA just a little in site that powerDVD can do VMR9
but anyways
and the reason I kept referring to non aTI cause the ATI version of teh cyberlink decoder does VMR9 just fine

overlay and sonic should be a simple rendering
sonic is by far the most stable decoder out there

I do NOT have power DVD or cyberlink. I have Theatertek installed and am using the Sonic decoders from that. Never had this problem before with Sage........although I have had plenty of others.

sorry thought the two posts above mine where both from you and now I see they are not

the rest was just none sense anyways

I realise that you are not using powerDVD or cyberlink but to JasonEngel
this may give some insight to doing VMR9 with cyberlink and why it is not usable

but anyways sorry for getting off topic

My solution though when something happens like this and gets me mad is just reinstall the OS

bet you it fixes that issue

well did not mean to confuse the two posts

Well the only time I have seen this issue is with cyberlink decoders
I have no idea why the sonic decoders are doing that
I have used theatertek with sage in the same box with no trouble
have you tried updating theatertek?
I only said that cause of your ridicilous reply after just stating something stupid about cyberlink decoders
I was not trying to mess you by mentioning the cyberlink decoders

no I was not kidding

I guess I am more willing to start over when a problem gets me mad (temper issues)
I never told you to reinstall your OS
I just said that what I would do and bet if you did it
It would fix your problem, LOL

OK now try uninstalling theatertek and using the hauppauge intervideo decoders
remove the sonic decoders after theatertek uninstalls as well

do you get a message everytime you open theatertek if you are using VMR9 in sage
the theatertek message says something about the rendering being changed and theatertek needs to change it back

furthermore is theatertek set to start with your computer
and what else is set to start up with computer?

use msconfig from start menu then run

disable everything other than sage, video card and necessary stuff like
remote control software etc

also do you want to post your properties file
there scould be setting that could be causing this

also you could try installing the beyondTV trial to see if it does the same thing

I am not saying to switch just try that
and sorry for confusing you and implying for you to reinstall your OS

I am sure this can be resolved
