.properties files and all metadata gone?!

So I deleted me .properties files - they were being replicated out of control on my unraid server. Anyway since doing so I lost all my metadata. Any idea if this is normal behavior?

That's what the .properties files do.

I once asked Jeff K about this, and he said that the .properties file were basically the backup metadata. I've seen from time to time that the Wiz.bin metadata gets "lost" and if you don't have the .properties lying around, then you end up losing your metadata

It's probably a good idea to keep the .properties lying around.

I thought it was safe to delete them since they were supposed to be in the wiz.bin. I guess I was wrong. What a costly mistake and a real thorn in my side for unraid
