record same thing twice?

I was wondering if it is possible to record the same show on the same channel at the same time with two different tuner cards?

I want to "SEE" the real world difference in quality settings to get the most bang per megabyte. I have over 1TB of hard drive space and it is already around 80% full.

I think you might be able to do this by setting the show to record normally and then set a time based manual recording for the same time and channel.

You can do it the way malore suggested. You can also set different manual records at the same time, although it will confuse Sage because it will think all the files belong to one recording. It will work though, it's just that you when you delete them it will move some of files to the imported files list. You have to delete them there. I did this while testing my four tuners. To avoid this problem, just set the manual records to start 1 minute apart.

In Sage version 1, to do this you had to record multiple shows, and then pad them. For example, if you recorded a show a 7 p.m., you'd record the second show at 8 p.m., and pad it back an hour.

malore & zz5: great to know! (I got rid of my first reply since it would probably just add confusion now. )

How about playing them back at the same time? I can only think of running the server & client at the same time, or 2 copies of the client at once. Other suggestions?
