Can Sage play 24 bit/96 kHz FLACs?
Ripped all my CDs to 16 bit/44.1 kHz FLACs and keep 'em stored on the network. Sage plays these files fine. Downloaded sample 24 bit/96 kHz tracks from HDTracks and got chipmunks when I played them with Sage. MediaPlayer Lite plays them fine on the same machine. Do I just need another decoder or renderer? Right now I'm using DirectSound: Digital Audio (S/PDIF)(Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM) for the renderer and AC3Filter for the MPEG2 Audio Decoder Filter. I'm assuming "HD Audio" in the detailed settings refers to a file format, not all the higher resolution audio bit depth/sampling rates. I have HD Audio Output disabled.

I also have my music stored as flac and have had issues off and on through the years with playback on HDX00 devices. My current HD300s work fairly well, but if a playlist is "long enough" it will eventually freeze on a song.
I downloaded the HDTracks sample album with mixed results. On the HD300s, "The Sad Cafe" which is 48KHz was fine. "Another Country" and The Wind Song" which were both 96KHz had intermittent pops. They reminded me of listening to an vinyl album with a scratch in it. But the "Rag No. 16" which was also 96KHz was completely unlistenable (is that a word?); very very quick choppy segments. However, it was another story on the Sage server itself. Every song played in chipmunk mode. I was able to fix this by going to Detailed Setup, Video/Audio, Media Player for non-MPEG files and changing the setting to "SageTV Player". All of the HD flac files I tested played flawlessly from the server. The settings you mentioned in your post are for the playback device (renderer) which should not matter and decoders for MPEG files. So give that setting a try. |

I am out of town right now but I will definitely try that setting Tuesday when I return.

Success!
OK I talked to HQ and got her to change the setting as described above, and it sounds like problem solved!
