Intellgent Record feature
I'm hugely impressed with it's intelligent record feature. My TiVo frequently records complete crap. Sage seems to actually locate shows that I might like--and may otherwise miss! Thumbs up!
Just excited enough that I wanted to put this compliment out there hoping that the authors may see it. Positive feedback is always nice to receive, after all. |

I used to think that the intelligent record feature was a waste. .. thinking that SageTV (and Tivo) was supposed to just record only what you requested. I would get mad because my HD would begin filling up with shows I wouldn't specify. Now I understand that it's supposed to act that way based on your watching/recording habits. Looking back, most of the recorded shows were geared towards the genre I was interested in.

When I first installed SageTV, I didn't have any interest in IR -- I wanted to recorded ONLY the shows I specifically said to record. Then, I decided to check it out during a rerun interval. At first I "put up" with it for a week or so out of curiosity. Now, I refuse to turn it off and count it as a great feature.
I like to leave some shows to IR, since I want to have some of them always available, but I don't want it to try recording them _all_. A favorite for the show would try to catch them all (OK, you can set a timeslot now in mlbdude's STV) and cause conflicts to arise, while IR is happy to fit them in when there is room in the schedule. I still get shows I have no interest in, but I go through the schedule & mark them as Don't Like. - Andy

Just remember, "don't like" only applies to episodes, not to entire shows. It will continue to record the show.

Not if you "Don't Like" enough episodes.
But, yes, even that isn't perfect... I just cannot get it to stop adding General Hospital and One Life to Live every once in a while. Also, check out this property: Quote:
