Just confirming that changing the default transcode to mpeg2 fixed the issue for me as well.

Why do you need to change to mpeg2? Doesn't SageTV support mpeg4? If that is the case, maybe i should get the cheaper OTA hdhomerun that only does mpeg2 if i am only going to use it for SageTV? Also, i assume you need to ouse the OpenDCT app as well with this tuner like the HDPrime does?

It's not exactly that you need to change to MPEG2 so much as SageTV assumes from the HDHomeRun it will be MPEG2. It will place the video into an MPEG-PS container which doesn't support H.264 when what you really need is an MPEG-TS container.

No Preview with HDHomeRun Extend

i am having the same issue with my Extend. No Preview (haven't tried recording yet). The Prime works fine.
The HDHomeRun Extend Transcode configuration screen doesn't list any specific formats. See attached.

I can watch the channels fine using VLC by clicking on the channel name in web page http://192.168.0.107/lineup.html

I can't get my extend to work. Same issue as above. Can setup channels OK but can't view or record any OTA channels using the Extend and Sage V6. The Prime channels work fine. The Extend has a built in H264 encodr so maybe that is the problem. How should Sage be configured to view H264 files?

I think you need to choose "none" for the transcode profile.

Did you get this to work? If so, what settings did you change?

sort of but not all the OTA channels are showing in the guide but are configured and tunable in Sage when adding the source. I changed
encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=false for the EXTEND.
