Program guide Question

I seem to be getting very little program guide data. Most of the channels say "No Data" and only a few have programs listed. there seems to be no pattern to where I get data and where I don't - thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.

Weird, see if you get listings for all your channels from www.zap2it.com since the data comes from the same source.

Yes everything is fine if I go directly to zap2it on the web - just not loading into the guide.

Is this your first download? If so, I think it just has not downloaded all of the data yet. If you have slow connection and a lot of channels, it could take several hours for the first download. Other downloads will take a lot less time because they should only need to get 1 day of data instead of the 14 days you may be trying to get now.

"No Data" with Program Guide

I'm a Sage newcomer and this weekend have been trying to get my homemade PVR working with my DISH satellite system. Mostly success, but I have yet to be able to download a complete TV Guide lineup. As with Gregor (albeit many months ago), I get about a dozen station listings with information and the rest read "No Data."

I understand that the Sage system updates the channel listing every 24 hours; I have also attempted to force it to update (enable/disable a station). But after about 48 hours now I still only get a handful of channels showing program information. I have about 80 stations enabled in total. Also, I have been to zap2it.com and confirmed that all of the station information is present there.

Any idea what I need to do to get the program information into Sage?

Many thanks

if this is a brand new setup
then uninstall SageTV
delete the program folder and then reboot and reinstall SageTV
see if does a better job of getting the data
also what type of internet connection? if dial up it could take a while
but doubt it since you said 48hrs

Thanks for your suggestion.

Before I reinstall (deleting the program folder) I must ask: is there an easy way to retain some of my settings? I have spent considerable time disabling many garbage channels, adding channel icons, setting up my video store directories, getting my new ir remote to work, etc.

Thanks again

you can easily just grab the icon folders
but saving any of the other settings is harder and may reintroduce the problem
it might be just easier to start over with this stuff

Thanks for your input.

It turns out that it was only a matter of time. Forced update of the channels (by toggling enable/disable) did not work, but passage of time (about 72 hours) solved the problem. Apparently multiple regularly scheduled updates is the answer.

Ideally this bug would be fixed so that the update could occur immediately upon installation......

the add/remove a channel tends to get them added quicker though than not
just yes it took a good couple of hours when downloading the EPG for the first time on a computer

I have this same problem. Frequently. A few days ago upgrading to 2.1, I had setup both my tuners (within Sage) again because one of them was recording without sound. A majority (95%) of my channels still have 'No Data' listed in the EPG. I've always done the add/remove channel to try to force an update, but it doesn't seem like a true solution. Internet connectivity is not the issue, so I'm always stumped when this happens and end up waiting it out a few days.
