Placeshifter killing SageTV Service
I'm not showing any error logs, but I notice now that when I connect to my SageTV Server through Placeshifter, it crashes the service. I'll log into my server and the service is stopped.
Has anyone seen this before? |

Yes. I have had the same problem. Never resolved it. Never able to recover from it, had restore an older system image.

I wonder if one of the modern Java's broke it. |

I do know that folks are still using it, so it's something that our systems have in common.
I don't know how destitute your situation is, but after getting one successful placeshifter up and running, Sage service will shut down after 3 minutes. In fact, if I fire up my laptop and then attempt to run placeshifter on that laptop, Sage will immediately go back into this state where the service shuts down after 3 minutes. I purchased my placeshifter license from another user here on the forum. Did you purchase yours from Sage originally? |

Just to clarify, after the problem surfaces, I can reboot the server and Sage service will shut down in 3 minutes, even without a placeshifter involved. If I restart it, it shuts down in 3 minutes. It never goes back to good, until I restore that good image where a placeshifter had never connected. I never had enough time to troubleshoot it - it usually happened just before leaving home on a trip, and I had to scramble to get the old image back up before walking out the door.

Mine isn't that bad, but I don't remember when Placeshifter started taking a crap since it's been so long since I used it. I wonder if it was related to one of these recent "secure" Java updates. I might drop back down to Java 6 and let it sit there.
