I am having problems getting certain videos to playback.

Sage says "The requested media file was not found on the server"

The log reports:

I have tried uninstalling the plugin, deleted downloaded vidoes/temp files, restarting Sage etc. but still get this only with certain videos.

Any ideas how I can troubleshoot please ?

Post the complete logfile and I'll take a look at it. The video is available on YouTube.

Any ideas?

Does the plugin store data in wiz.bin, that's about the only other place I can think of, I uninstalled and cleared out everything else I could find.

BTW, I am running on Linux, actually the SageTV unRAID docker if that makes any difference.

I looked last night and have some clues. Trying to narrow it down now.

How did you navigate to this video?

The plugin keeps data in the wiz.bin via the User Record API. This should be irrelevant to the problem however. It also caches some information in memory to improve performance.

Hi,

Thanks for looking, I navigate via the "Browse Favorite Channels" and select it there - I added the channel Carl & Alex as a favorite.

Regards.

I frequently encounter this same issue and navigate to the videos the same way as you are doing. It seems to frequently occur if I start watching a video, but don't finish it. Then, the next time I try to watch it, I get this error.

I think I know the issue. Download the latest youtube-dl from here: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html

and copy it to the SageTV install directory. (Back up the old youtube-dl just in case.) Make sure you make it executable. (I'm assuming you know your way around linux.)

Note to any Windows users reading this: You can download the youtube-dl.exe from the same page and copy it to the Sage install directory. No need to worry about making it executable.

Great. I'll try to get an update out to formally fix the issue.

For certain music videos, I'm getting a situation where it says it's trying to download some player, and just sits there. This is on an extender. I am guessing it might have something to do with different types of video formats appearing on youtube? Some (older, it seems) videos still play fine, as they always have.

Any idea?

Did you try updating youtube-dl per the post 3 or 4 previous to this one? I'd try that first. If it doesn't work then send a logfile for me to look at.

Hi,

Could you please clarify what the record option against a video is for ?

I can see it records the video into the recording directory you specify but when I play back the video again I see it buffers it from youtube again, shouldn't it playback the downloaded recording ?

Note all the above is done from within your plugin favorite channels option, I do not import recorded videos into TV or video imports - the import option is set to none in the recording options.

Thanks!

When using "record" most people set it up to import the video as a TV recording or a video. If you record a video and then play it, the plugin should NOT download the video again. If it does there is a bug.

Please reproduce the error and attach the logfile and I'll have a look at it to see what's going on.

Edit: When a video is downloaded a "disc" icon should appear on the menu next to the video. Do you see that?

Different symptoms but the same recommendation appears to have fixed it. Thanks, Tom!

No, I do not see any disc icon.

I think maybe the issue is I have set it not to import the video ?

OK, I know what's going on. Since you have downloaded it and not imported it as a video or TV recording the plugin does not know where to look for the downloaded video. I remember this case when I was coding the plugin and decided that finding the downloaded video would be "hit or miss" (because the user can choose to download the video anywhere) so I decided just to re-download it.

As a work around you can set it to import as a video and download it to a temp directory which periodically gets deleted.

If you have any suggestions on how to handle the case let me know.

Thanks, I was going to update I changed to import and they are now marked as "M" manual recordings and do not stream again from youtube

This also seems to fix the random error where it said it could not find it for playback.

My only suggestion would be perhaps to remove the option of "none" on the import as it clearly needs to be set to one for it to work correctly

Trouble Listing Watch Later

Anyone else having trouble with YouTube | My YouTube Channel | Watch Later?

I have a couple dozen videos in my Watch Later list on YouTube's website. This has worked wonderfully until yesterday. Now it shows Sage shows 0 videos.

The change made on my system was the latest round of updates for Win7. I'm hoping for all your sakes that I'm the only one, but conversely I'd like to not uninstall these one at a time and test.

Anyone?

Check that you are still logged on to your YouTube account. My plugin will keep you logged in a long while, but you will eventually have to log in again.

I haven't upgraded any of the plugins since hearing about the "pluginageddon".
