350 TV Out and Video Card Out

At present I have my PVR out though my scart socket on my TV (AV-1 setting on my TV). And my ATI 7000 S-video out though composite (AV-2 setting on my TV).

I prefer to watch TV though the 350 TV out as it gives better quaility.

However

1. When playing TV out through the PVR 350 it is also playing the TV stream though the video card. This makes the CPU useage high (70%). Can I make sage play TV out only though the PVR350 out? And not though the Video card as well?

2. As you can't play back DVD/Divx though the TV out. Is it possible to set up sage so that when I select play DVD/Divx (in 350 tv out). It plays the DVD through the Video card in full screen mode. At present when I change to AV-2 for my ATI 7000 output the dvd/divx that is playing is not in full screen mode?

Hope you can make sense of this

In a word, no.

It isn't yet possible to make sage aware of the 350's inability to display divx/dvds. Nor is it possible to have the 'hardware only disabled' when certain files are played along with some sort of girder automation.

In regards to question #1 though, it IS possible. Simply find the 'hardware decoding only' option in the advanced setup and enable it. With your 350 doing all the work, your CPU usage should plummit to around 2% when watching live TV.

But, as you have noticed, you won't be able to watch DVDs or DIVX, nor will you be able to see the video on your video card out.

Hope this helps.

If you have Studio, it can be disabled for Divx playback or at least it should be able to be done. If you go to the customizations forums, maybe someone would implement this. It's a great idea to do what you said, and I'll probably add it to my STV in the near future.

for DVDs you need to rip the DVDs first then use either your sond card output or loop the sound cards output into your pvr 350 so you can use the pvr 350 audio output
but you will lose the AC3 surround surround if you loop the sound

if you go with the first option will will probably need to use the audio delay feature of Sage to sync the sound

good luck
