SageTV 2 locks up when show is over

When the program plays to the end, SageTV 2 locks up and will do nothing from remote of keyboard. I have to close the program and start over. This happens everytime a show plays till the end.

Any ideas?

Steven

You should probably look at the SageTV Lockups thread. If you still have problems you should list your hardware.

I'm running:

XP Home
nforce 2
AMD XP 2500+
256M Ram
Geforce 4 sx
PVR 350 with video out enabled
15/16 Mix drivers

The drivers fixed most of my problems, but the end of file lockup remains. No error, just a frezee.

Just to be clear, I want to verify that you are using the correct set of drivers. Since you do have mixed drivers I am sure you are using one of these two sets which both correct the mixed card issue but the SHS is the latest and corrects the EOF issue. The first set was posted by Narflex on 6/2/04 in the Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination thread. While these drivers did fix the mixed card issue they did not correct the EOF issue and I consider them to be obsolete. The most current drivers which correct both the Mixed card and the EOF issue was posted by SHS on 6/11/04 in the New Hauppauge Beta Drivers for IVAC15/16 Combination thread.
I don't know if it is a reliable method of telling which set of drivers you currently are using but the driver information from the device manager I see is:
Driver Date: 6/10/2004
Driver Version: 1.18.21.22162

The drivers are the SHS drivers:
Driver Date: 6/10/2004
Driver Version: 1.18.21.22162

When a program plays to the end, the video freezes with the last image, audio stops, no menus come up, and the remote will not respond. Any other ideas?

Not really, but it does sound like the problem that I had. I assume that you are using the work around of going back to the guide before the program ends. You probably should report this to Frey Support if you have not already.

BTW: does your mouse move when this occurs? When I had this problem I could not do anything but use the reset button on my computer.

The mouse still works, but when I try to close sage I get the XP blue screen of death and a reboot.

I do try to stop the show before it gets to the end. If I can stop it, everything is fine.

I have the exact same issue with the 350. It's the drivers. Even though the latest drivers have this problem, this is the most stable ones I have seen. I was getting so much flak from my wife, I had to switch to Software Decoding and spent about two days getting that tweaked enough to where it was tollerable. All I can say is wait until newer drivers are released. Hauppauge is working with Jeff of Frey on this problem, and hopefully will have a solution soon. You can avoid this like you said by not letting Sage reach the end of the file.

Anyone still having this EOF lockup problem? I've tried everything mentioned on the forum: latest drivers, auto_close=false, etc...

2 out of 3 times Sage will lock-up completely or the remote will get really sluggish 30-45 seconds between each command. If I start another file, it will go back to normal. Or it will lock up completely and I'll have to reboot my machine.

If I jump out of the file before it ends, I'm fine, but other people use my system that aren't very savvy or patient.

Thanks!

Yes, I am still having the problem. The only thing that works is stopping the show before it gets to the end. I hope there will be new drivers soon.

When a show is over for me, SageTV hangs for about 5-10 seconds, and then resumes from where it left off, by starting to record the next show. During that 5-10 seconds, the show is still being recorded because it plays normally, and if i hit fast forward I jump about 10 seconds ahead in the show. So my shows are recording just fine, which is good, but the 5-10 seconds of silence is really odd.
